This magnificent Tudor barn is located in the rural village of Bury, near Pulborough, at the heart of the South Downs National Park. The historic grounds of Dorset House School-one of the country’s oldest preparatory schools-are home to this unforgettable setting, steeped in rich history, with records tracing back to the Domesday Book. Once a monastic structure, it evolved into a traditional manor and later became an Edwardian retreat for London’s elite. This venue’s uniqueness, history, and character make it truly special.
Bury Manor Barn offers an unforgettable atmosphere for Church, Civil, or Humanist ceremonies, allowing couples to choose a setting that best reflects their personal vision. In warmer months, outdoor ceremonies can be held in the beautiful amphitheatre, surrounded by views of the river, Amberley Castle, and the South Downs.
The venue features various thoughtfully designed spaces to host memorable celebrations. An inviting Walled Garden, with shaded spots ideal for mingling and group photos, provides a relaxed atmosphere. The Champagne reception area, with elevated views of Amberley Castle and the South Downs, is a striking spot for toasts. Photography opportunities abound, from the enchanting pond and jetty under the weeping willow to the atmospheric Woodland area lined with beech trees. Inside, original wooden beams and a state-of-the-art LED lighting system offer endless possibilities for decorating to each couple’s theme, from rustic to vibrant.
Bury Manor Barn transforms with each season, providing its own special appeal for weddings year-round. In spring, two magnificent magnolia trees frame the barn’s entrance, with the grounds in full bloom. For chillier days, the inner barn’s log fire adds warmth.
