About

The Setting

The Tithe Barn at Hinton St Mary Estate is in North Dorset, the heart of the Blackmore Vale and sits on the River Stour. The estate owns eight miles of the river and offers tranquility, space and freedom with uninterrupted views of the rural Dorset Countryside.

Horse lovers will know this as the home of Fox-Pitt Eventing. Close to the market towns of Sturminster Newton and Shaftesbury, the nearest train station is Gillingham on the London Waterloo line.

The Vibe

In true dry hire style, the team will hand you the keys on Friday and leave you to create a personal yet perfect space, dressing the venue with your friends and family. You can stay onsite the night before and walk to the pub for supper or host rehearsal drinks in the walled garden.

The space is so versatile, lending itself to a classic English Rose/ Country Garden with drinks in the garden and dinner in the hall; go romantic with a ceremony under the trees, or festival/ bohemian using the most of the walled garden, hiring tents or tipis.

They’re licensed inside and out! Their stunning stone summerhouse is a secret space for outdoor weddings and turns into a quirky spot for drinks at dusk. The wooden floor and vaulted ceiling of the hall makes this a great party space once the light drops and there is a galleried space for a bar and snug area.

With dry hire, they don’t provide tables and chairs, cutlery or crockery, but they can recommend talented people with stylish props so that your look is bespoke, and they can guide and provide with some helpful advice.
