Wedding Planning Excellence at Millbridge Court
Weddings are our focus, but every now and again we get to help people source beautiful venues for other celebrations; such as birthdays & naming ceremonies, corporate dinners & charity galas, through to industry workshops.
We’re happy to play matchmaker for all of the above so when the UKAWP (UK Alliance of Wedding Planners) approached us regarding their upcoming Wedding Planning Excellence course I absolutely wanted to be a part of it in some small way.
Instantly one venue came to mind for this two-day event and as you’ll see, it was utterly perfect. We have two renowned planners from UKAWP – Always Andri & Katrina Otter Weddings – telling us a little about the day and the event. There’s stunning styling from Jay Archer Floral Design, delicious feasts by in-house caterers Kalm Kitchen and beautiful images by Hannah Duffy Photography.
Andri & Katrina:
The inspiration behind the styling
Millbridge Court’s fusion of rustic barn qualities with elegant contemporary design provided the perfect backdrop for styling the WPE. Working with the neutral colour palette, vaulted ceilings and glass walls of Millbridge, the other main styling influences came in the form of the UKAWP branding, combined with the vision of award winning wedding florist Jay Archer.
Using a combination of seasonal flowers (including ranunculus, anemone, eucalyptus, ivy berries, moss, snapdragon, clematis, astrantia, senecio, parvi, pampas, olive, spray roses and scabious) Jay worked with the aesthetics of the venue and logistics of the day to enhance the spaces and provide the most beautiful of settings for the WPE.
Tall arrangements either side of the speakers framed the seminar, whilst the bright, jewel like colours provided some additional visual interest. The addition of moss on the display plinths helped pull the outside in whilst softening the clean lines of the venue.
During the day, the long dining table was dressed with an urbane chalk linen from Kalm Kitchen and a foliage runner, candles and bud vases from Jay. In the evening the dining room was transformed with a dark grey contemporary linen and a number of statement larger arrangements on pewter leaf-detail stands.
Finally, Kalm Kitchen and Jay teamed up to provide the most inspiring and delectable of dessert table complete with white and dark chocolate brownies, passion fruit possets and Autumnal Mess.
Millbridge court, the perfect choice of venue!
With it’s light and airy interiors Millbridge Court offered us a wonderful space, that worked for both for the educational part and for relaxing with fellow planners over the delicious lunches and evening meal by the in-house catering team Kalm Kitchen. With planners coming from all over the country it was also a great opportunity for Millbridge Court to showcase its delightful spaces and excellent service, I’m sure many planners will be recommending the venue to their clients.
The WPE
Wedding Planning Excellence 2015 (WPE2015) is the brainchild of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, a two day seminar to support new and experienced wedding planners. Providing practical, educational sessions to support business growth and development, the WPE was born as a result of the UKAWP’s passion to promote professionalism in the wedding industry. Bernadette and Sandy, UKAWP’s directors and owners of Dream Occasions and Tern Events, respectively believe these seminars empower fellow planners with practical knowledge and create a supportive community.
