New Lease of Life for Historic Family Estate!

Launcells Barton, a family-owned, Grade II* listed manor house based in Launcells, near Bude in North Cornwall, has embarked on an ambitious new project to create one of Cornwall’s most sought after wedding venues.

With their first summer wedding just around the corner, current owners Matthew Stokes and Lara Gill have been working tirelessly to transform the house and are looking forward to completing the restoration of the Georgian Manor.

But, it doesn’t stop with the house as there’s still some rather exciting developments for the disused agricultural buildings. Once a working dairy farm, these spaces will be renovated to create a ceremony barn, licensed outdoor walled ceremony garden and guest accommodation.

The purpose-built events barn will accommodate up to 200 seated guests and up to an additional 150 evening guests, in a sophisticated and beautiful countryside setting.

Lara explains; “We have spent a great deal of time and thought on the concept and design of all the spaces and locations available for weddings. For the new events barn, we wanted to keep the character of Launcells Barton and feel of our Georgian house apparent. We wanted to combine English country charm with a rustic farm feel, to create the perfect atmosphere for couples and their guests to relax throughout their special day. To achieve this we have, wherever possible, used reclaimed items from the farm, we even have an old mahogany organ which we are using as a drinks cabinet for the new bar…”

By April 2017 the new Events Barn will be complete and available for weddings and events in addition to the house and ceremony barn, which will see it’s first wedding next month! To find out more and follow the progress of Launcells Barton you can do so by keeping an eye on their website or by watching regular updates on Facebook page.
