That little snippet is taken from my latest lifestyle feature over on B.LOVED where I look at how to hygge. Whilst for some this may be seen as a passing trend, the actual sense of hygge has been around for many years. Hygge is all about being connected, being in the moment, appreciating the small things, sharing intimacy and belonging to a community.
All of these sentiments are so true when it comes to weddings and indeed I think the ethos of hygge is a fundamental process in our decision making, whether we’re conscious of it or not. The venues we’re increasingly seeing are those that focus on the warm, friendly, home-from-home vibes that our relaxed couples crave. Our venue choices are also influenced by our own sense of style (obviously!) and our love for interiors, architecture and design. So with all of this in mind, we asked our Gift List partners Prezola to create a seasonally inspired hygge list.
I hope you like it… I’m off to light a candle!
Hygge is probably one of my favourite words at the moment and there’s no wonder why. This Danish act of creating a nice atmosphere is all about enjoying life with good people around you. When it’s dark outside and the weather’s looking glum, we all need that extra boost so fill your home with candles, wrap a thick blanket around you and feel all snuggly for winter.
We have lots of Scandinavian brands for your gift list at Prezola including Nordal, Nordic House and Grand Design plus there’s Scandi-inspired brands such as The White Company and Cozy Living.
Indulge in greys, smoky blues, silver and white with your home décor and you won’t want to go outside, at least until April comes around! Go for fur rugs and cushions on the sofa and opt for lots of scented candles to fill your home with goodness, especially when they’re shown off in gorgeous glass lanterns from ZaZa Homes.
Make the most of winter and embrace hygge in the home, you’ll make everyone jealous and they’ll never want to leave your warm abode!
