Tell your Hen Party Story with Illustries!

So, hands up who’s in the throes of Hen Party planning…?

Well, whether you’re the bride herself or the trusty bridesmaid who’s in charge of the Hens, you’ll certainly be thinking of ways to document this ritualistic pre-wedding event. So let me introduce you to Illustries, created in 2010 by Emma Penrice, a writer, and Samantha Smith, an artist and designer.

When Emma got married in 2008, there was nothing ‘different’ when it came to albums and the like, nothing to tell her story. So Emma and Sam put together all their years of experience helping to build some of Europe’s biggest brands and formed Illustries, with a range of unique, quirky, fun and stylish wedding albums, guest books, hen party books and message books to capture all of life’s special moments.

I love this idea and today, yep you guessed it, we’re focusing on the Hen Party Book!

We believe in sharing memories, celebrating stories and reliving those wonderful days time and time again – but in a modern, and often quirky, way. We like to look out for an occasion, then work out how things could be done differently. Like our Hen Books, for example – we have both been on a lot of Hen parties, and the girls we know want something fun, but stylish. And we both really felt for the Matron of Honour, having to find things to do and ways to get everyone involved. So our Hen Books are sassy and cheeky but not tacky, a great way to get the party started and keep it going – and you get to record your memories along the way so that you end up with more than a hangover!

Hen parties can be a bit intimidating for friends or family of the bride when they don’t really know each other, so our tip is to try and have a mix of things to do that can involve everyone – or different people at different times – and make sure that drinking isn’t the be all and end all! Our books have a quiz about the bride, space for messages, ideas for games that everyone will enjoy and they get everyone chatting.
