Italian Inspired Editorial with Grazing Feast at Three Choirs Vineyard

For this editorial, photographer Laura Martha and wedding planner Valentina from The Stars Inside set out to create timeless, artful, and fresh visuals reminiscent of Italian and French vineyard weddings – while giving a spotlight to the wonders of the English countryside.

Valentina says…

Three Choirs Vineyards is a state of the art, family-run winery in Hampshire, where the team spent the afternoon exploring every hidden treasure. Laura’s natural style of photography is centred around emotions and authenticity, which worked perfectly with the harmonious surroundings and our concept of a heart-warming feast. Laura says: “I wanted to bring together suppliers who share the same love of feasting, texture, textiles and fun! I wanted my images to make you feel hungry, whilst you swoon over the copious amounts of food and colour, and I wanted you to feel the textures of the vines, textiles and energy. I imagined this shoot when driving home one day, and passing a vineyard. I wondered if it was possible to marry in a UK vineyard, and I set out to create something beautiful that reconnects our couples with English countryside.”

The shoot was designed to break barriers of time and space, to quieten the noise of trend-following, and to celebrate grace and inclusivity in all its forms. We used textures such as wood and linen to create a natural narrative, modernising it with crisp whites, clear glass, and shimmering silver. I loved working with Laura on this concept, and we hope that it inspires couples to embrace and celebrate the glorious UK countryside!

Stationer Laura E Patrick created a modern invitation suite which echoed the peaceful vineyard location, with venue sketches and paintings combined with a modern and organic calligraphy style. The warm colours and handmade paper of the suite and place-cards, alongside unique bread bag menus, enriched our table setting – sumptuous, but welcoming.

The girls at Boxed Weddings created a divine assortment of delicious food for us, overflowing out of crates – like something out of a storybook feast! We wanted food to be one of the protagonists of this story, just as so many couples are now giving the dining experience a key role in their wedding. All the on-site suppliers were treated to this grazing meal at the end of the evening, in true spirit of collaboration.

Florist Gemma from Iris & Co. says: “With such a beautiful setting, we designed the flowers to reflect the hues and textures found within the vineyard. Woven through the bountiful table of food were rich foliage and flashes of deep colour, hinting at the rich tones of the grapes nestled in the vines. We included non-traditional flowers like large, pink proteas, hypericum berries, and cascading amaranthus, which brought a modern feel reminiscent of Italian designers like Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana.”

Hair and make-up artist Katy Djokic brought to a life an effortlessly natural look, perfect for the modern, outdoor bride and groom. We featured two bridalwear looks from Elie Blue Bridal, one caped and tight-fitting, and the other a more playful separate – perfectly complemented by the navy and neutral summery menswear from Tailor Made London.

Cake artist Holly Clarke blew the team away with a multi-tired, pure white cake decorated with intricate rice paper, a delicate echo of the flora around us.

To Have and To Hire brought twinkling festoon lights and stylish props, which brough to life the courtyard alongside beautiful wooden pieces from Linda’s Vintage Hire and Jollie’s Chair Hire. We wanted the furniture to feel laid back but intentional, fresh and European in style.

Susanna from Nettle Textiles provided stunning ribbon in shades of burgundy, blush, and sage green, as well as soft waves of white linen for our tablescape.

To enhance the experiential nature of the story, Laura from By Laura Candles created bespoke scented candles for us, filling the air with a scent of Rosemary, Thyme and Sage. Laura says: “The scent was tailored to the style, food, and personality of the editorial, enriching the atmosphere so beautifully captured by Laura in these photographs.”

The handmade jewellery by Deco Flowers is also centred around botanical designs, with flowers appearing in different forms in all of her exquisite pieces. For our earrings, she was inspired by the buds of soft white freesia, tender and snow-white. The headpiece was inspired the flowers of the Forsythia plant, enhanced with white baroque pearls.

As the hard light from this year’s magnificent summer danced through the leaves, our couple Mandy and Dominic played around the venue together to discover a peaceful floral hideaway, a cake nestled in the vines, and their very own party under the stars.
