On our last visit we experienced a foodie Wedding Breakfast extravaganza and for my husband, the hotel immediately entered his top ten of “great places to sip a whisky cocktail”. In the evening, we tried some of the dishes they offer for wedding receptions and what followed was a delicious menu of pigeon, sea bass, and the most delectable chocolate marquise.
To say The Bingham know a little about food is a huge understatement, so if your Wedding Breakfast is high up on the planning priorities list, then who better to guide us through some thoughts for the “foodie” couple.
Over to Amy, the in-house Events Manager.
Amy says…
As the rise of the #pinterestwedding becomes more and more prominent, there has never been so many sources of inspiration when it comes to planning your wedding day thanks to more and more couples seriously upping their game in the wedding style stakes.
As couples explore how to make the finer details of their wedding day stand out beyond some impressive décor – wedding food is really beginning to take centre stage. We’re not just talking about a delicious wedding breakfast – standout canapés, impressive desserts and unusual evening food are all part of making the wedding food a true experience and not just part of the big day. The food and drink on the wedding day is now becoming part of a whole immersive wedding experience.
Previously couples would celebrate with champagne after their ceremony but now more and more couples are looking for something unique that will impress their guests, signature cocktails, locally distilled gins and craft beers are all on the reception drinks menu. Combined with less traditional canapés such as Asian-inspired sushi, miniature versions of British classics like toad in the hole and fish and chips or turning the idea of canapés completely on its head by serving old fashioned ice-cream.
Couples are also becoming more inventive when it comes to the traditional wedding breakfast and we’re finding traditional wedding food is falling out of favour and a more unique and thoughtful approach to food is becoming apparent.
We offer a fabulous BBQ menu which we find is incredibly popular especially over the summer months and doesn’t just include your typical burgers and sausages. In fact our most popular items are the prawn skewers, halloumi and veg skewers, lamb cutlets and couscous.
Then when it comes to evening food, rather than the classics like sausage and bacon sandwiches, fusion food displays and grazing tables are making an appearance serving everything from fish and chip cones to falafel and couscous food bowls. Not only does this mean a delicious menu, but the food and the serving style looks incredible in your wedding photos.
