Charley & Thomas’s Summer Micro Wedding at Brickhouse Vineyard

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Brickhouse Vineyard has always had micro weddings at its heart.

From the beginning, even before the pandemic when micro weddings became mainstream, Brickhouse Vineyard were hosting beautiful intimate unions and elopements, with just a handful of loved ones in attendance. Their Roundhouse was (and still is!) the perfect setting for such memorable occasions, and if we took one thing from witnessing weddings through the pandemic it’s that small is mighty; in style, substance and pure joy!

Today we’re delighted to welcome the Brickhouse team back to the blog to discuss all things micro weddings, to explain why they’re here to stay and how they approach hosting these gorgeous small weddings at their venue.

“Guests may be limited, but when it comes to your wedding day dreams, the sky’s the limit and the whole experience is set up to be more enjoyable from start to finish. With this in mind, we have created a package for intimate celebrations that are BIG on style…”

Their guidance and super helpful tips are accompanied by Charley & Thomas’s beautiful micro wedding which took place at Brickhouse Vineyard last summer. The perfect proof that small is really bloomin’ beautiful. Over to the team…

THE APPEALING DRAW OF MICRO-WEDDINGS

Whilst we love big weddings, we don’t always love BIG wedding budgets, but what’s the alternative?

There is a new trend, that might solve all your budget and wedding planning problems – the micro-wedding. Micro weddings are nothing new, but they certainly have grown in popularity since COVID-19 and continue to grow due to the current economic landscape; couples are considering scaling back their wedding plans because of the cost-of-living crisis.

Considering the average wedding costs upwards of £30k, it’s little wonder that an increasing number of couples in the UK are seeking alternatives to a traditional 100-200 guest wedding. But is this trend driven purely by money, or is there more to it than that? What is it that’s so appealing about these smaller weddings for the couples who choose them? Let’s find out…

WHAT IS A MICRO-WEDDING?

A micro-wedding is a wedding ceremony and celebration with a smaller number of guests than you might expect to see at a traditional wedding, typically this can be anything from 10 – 40 people. The smaller guest list allows every guest to feel fully involved in your wedding day, creating a beautifully supportive environment where couples have the luxury of time to speak to all their guests and enjoy everyone’s company on their special day.

Micro weddings also let you plan all the fun stuff, such as selecting a wedding venue, decor, and wedding suppliers, but usually without the high cost. That’s because the less people you invite, the less of everything you need. Think of micro weddings as the wedding of your dreams with just a tinier guest list, but including your immediate family and closest friends of course.

Other benefits include reduced stress during the planning process as a smaller wedding means that logistics are simpler, and this saves time and reduces risks of things going wrong. There is also no need to agonise or argue over the guest list, and feeling duty bound to invite (and pay for!) long lost relatives to attend and likely never be seen again.

Just because you choose a small wedding doesn’t mean you cannot go large with some of your plans. In fact, choosing a smaller wedding may be exactly the way to make your wedding day dreams come true!
