Her veil—a cherished heirloom passed down through generations and worn by the women in her family at their own weddings really was the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake, Mandy’s Classic Cakes took things to a whole new level with nine unique wedding cakes. Yes, nine! Each one had a different flavour, creating a dessert station so decadent it was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds! With a fresh palette of whites, yellows, and greens setting the tone and the incredible Luna Weddings and Jennifer Crabb capturing and coordinating every detail, this is a summer celebration not to miss. Let’s take a closer look…
Sophie kept her hair and makeup subtle yet elegant, highlighting her natural beauty. Her classic style, the sweetheart wedding dress, was already stunning, but her grandmother’s veil was the finishing and elevating touch. It had been passed on through the generations, worn by all the women in her family at their weddings. We loved these thoughtful details. Even Sophie’s mum Susan’s fashion choice melted our hearts. She wore her mum’s pink ‘mother of the bride’ dress for the day.
Sophie and Tobi had a firm idea of what they wanted to achieve with the overall look of the day. Summery yellow and green hues, with plenty of crisp white, were the colour tones for the day. Miranda Hackett understood the brief with the flowers for the day. Two enormous urns on the top lawn for the ceremony and table centrepieces were real focal points. Her choice of florals was joyous, as was the scent of fennel. Off-white, tall banqueting candles in the venue’s brass candelabra, with woven placemats, completed the wedding breakfast styling.
Sophie and Tobi chose to hold their ceremony under the established Chestnut trees in the garden (reminiscent of South Carolina Oaks with Spanish Moss, heralding from their home in the US) —a perfect choice that couldn’t have been more beautiful on their warm, sunny day in July. There’s always something special about outdoor ceremonies; there is always such a unique and palpable atmosphere. This was especially true as the guests gathered between these two ancient trees.
In true US style, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen paired off and entered the ceremony space. They all looked fabulous in their black tie and array of summery dresses. As the string quartet seamlessly broke into the bridal chorus, Sophie made her way down the aisle. Tobi couldn’t hold back his emotions, and witnessing the connection between these two made our job easy and was a total privilege.
One of the highlights for everyone involved (including the suppliers) was the nine wedding cake dessert stations. It was a feast for the eyes! Mandy from Mandy’s Classic Cakes was tasked with creating nine unique cakes, varying in flavour from caramel, coconut, and passion fruit curd to the much-loved red velvet. Each cake was iced with pastel colours, and edible flowers were used for décor. The guests loved the display as much as they loved the choice (and generous portions).
For a wedding photographer, it’s always a gift to work at Huntsham Court. With its historic elegance, stunning grounds, beautiful setting and a dreamy type of light we adore to photograph. Every wedding at this venue has a unique energy, and Sophie and Tobi’s did not disappoint! It was a true standout day for us, filled with warmth, emotion, and beautiful moments we’re so grateful to have captured.
Huntsham Court is a venue we’re lucky enough to know well; it always feels like coming home. Every time we shoot a wedding here, we’re reminded of how magical this place is, especially as mentioned before – the light in certain areas is almost cinematic.
From the wedding morning and all the preparations to the first dance and creative cocktails, the joy at this wedding was an absolute vibe, and the frames just fell into our cameras. Sophie and Tobi are one of those couples you instantly feel a connection with. They exude warmth and friendliness, and their love for each other and genuine appreciation of the moment shine through in every shot.
This was one of those weddings that reminded us again why we love doing what we do.
