Throw in oodles of greenery, flickering candlelight, and classic white florals, and suddenly, a winter wedding feels like the most romantic idea EVER. This is the kind of styling that immediately makes its way onto our Pinterest boards (and, let’s be honest, it should be on yours too). Special mention to the hot chocolate bar—whoever thought of that, take a bow. A boozy hot chocolate station at a winter wedding? Inspired. Frankly, we’d go as far as to say it should be a non-negotiable at every cold-weather celebration. Folks, if you’re still on the fence about a winter wedding, consider this your sign.
Drawing inspiration from the ethereal elegance of winter, The River Barn blends the season’s beauty with its magical, rustic interiors. Cascading greenery, twinkling fairy lights, and a warm, woody palette create a stunning canvas for weddings in every weather and season. However, there is nothing quite as inviting as stepping into The River Barn on a winter’s day—a venue that truly wraps its arms around you with its warm, welcoming ambiance.
A palette inspired by nature’s winter hues complements the cosy warmth of The River Barn’s rustic interiors, twinkling lights, and cascading foliage, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere.
The winter season inspired the colours: lush greens, crisp whites, and subtle black pops, reflecting the beauty of snow-dusted landscapes, evergreen foliage, and the soft shadows of a frosty day as the night draws in.
Amelia’s Bridal provided stunning ensembles for both models, perfectly complementing the elegant and refined theme. A classic tuxedo is added to the subtle monochrome palette, creating a timeless and sophisticated look. For the bride, two breathtaking gowns brought luxury. The first gown, an A-line design with traditional lace and sequin detailing, echoed the frosty elegance of delicate ice patterns—perfect for a winter ceremony. The second gown, a sleek, off-the-shoulder style with subtle lace accents, exuded modern sophistication and dreamy wintery charm. These looks were beautifully complemented by Hair by Judith Ainsworth, who created a contemporary twist on a traditional updo, and Sophie Jakeman, whose timeless makeup style completed the wintry bridal vision flawlessly.
The decor and styling by Oh So Boho Event Decor perfectly captured the wintry theme. They created magnificent oversized, cascading installations that fit the organic, natural and earthy style.
The abundant use of candles, lush conifers, and pine foliage, reminiscent of snowy alpine landscapes, brought a natural wintery charm to the setting. Fur chair backs added a cosy luxury, while the banquet-style layout created an inviting sense of celebration. Their thoughtful vision conveyed the frosted forest theme and the magic of winter.
Stationery from Northern Ink further solidified this vision while maintaining a harmonious blend of rustic, modern, and elegant. Jenny’s use of handmade papers, classic typefaces, and fabric-printed elements added a strong sense of sophistication and an unrelenting sense of organic earthiness, beautifully complementing the venue’s style.
Couples planning their weddings often overlook the winter season, with many favoring the long, sunny days of summer and outdoor celebrations. However, we wanted to showcase how magical and enchanting a winter wedding can be. From our cosy blanket box for guests to wrap up in to a boozy hot chocolate bar to warm their hands and hearts, a winter wedding at The River Barn captures everything you love about the season—the intimacy, warmth, and charm—and elevates it into a truly unforgettable experience.
