Rebecca & Max: Boho Romance at Tythe, Oxfordshire

Rebecca & Max: Boho Romance at Tythe, Oxfordshire

For Maxine and Rebecca, Tythe was everything they’d been searching for – a place that felt both personal and perfectly them.

With its thatched-roof barn (part safari lodge, part English farmhouse), it struck the balance between their South African and British roots. Their wedding was simple yet stylish, blending English countryside charm with a South African soul.

Tythe had everything we were looking for, on-site accommodation for the wedding party, a great selection of vegan and gluten-free options and a great team.

the venue

We visited numerous venues, all of which had a farmhouse boho feel, as that is what we were looking for. The other venues were lovely; however, each of them had at least one thing that just didn’t work, such as not having accommodation on site or not having a variety of vegan and gluten-free menu options. Then we came across Tythe, and it blew us away. The venue was perfect, especially with the thatched roof which reminded us of a South African Safari Lodge and the English country farmhouse feel, which seemed to be the perfect mix of us both (Maxine, South African and Rebecca, British). Tythe had everything we were looking for, on-site accommodation for the wedding party, a great selection of vegan and gluten-free options and a great team.

the fashion

My dress was from Wilderly, a beautiful lace dress with long sleeves – vintage and boho. My shoes were from Steve Madden, and I had a change of shoes for the evening, which were personalised white Converse. I wore my Mother’s beautiful diamond necklace and diamond earrings.

Rebecca wore a stunning white suit from Reiss, paired with a silk camisole made from her Mum’s wedding dress, which was equally beautiful.

Our bridesmaids wore a mix of green (ranging from sage to forest) dresses, which were all different styles and materials, too.

the styling & Flowers

The venue spoke for itself really, which is another thing we loved about it, it had great decor already, so we didn’t need to add too much more, other than beautiful flowers (which included South African Proteas and English Roses), a few boho decorations to tie it all in, with minimalistic table decorations, just napkins and more flowers.

Our Florist was Tom Goffe, who had done the flowers at a cousin’s wedding in the Cotswolds, and they couldn’t recommend him enough. Tom listened intently to what we wanted and blew us away when we saw all the arrangements on the day. The flowers were absolutely stunning, with some of the biggest proteas I’ve ever seen. We kept most of our flowers and have them dried around our home. The main flowers were South African Protea and English Roses, mixed with an array of autumn flowers as well. It just looked stunning.

Don’t stress the small stuff. Take moments to step back and take it all in; the day will fly by.

The Cake

We had an entirely vegan and gluten-free cake from Oxford Vegan Cakes. It was absolutely stunning and we couldn’t recommend them enough. We chose three tiers: Lemon, strawberry and blackcurrant. Absolutely delicious!

The Photographer

Our Photographer was the incredible Hannah Warmisham – Hannah was so professional and just absolutely lovely, such a dream to work with. We could not be happier with the photographs that she captured; they are truly magical.

From one couple to another

Don’t stress the small stuff. Take moments to step back and take it all in; the day will fly by.
