‘Peach Fuzz’ at Millbridge Court

by Emma Hla
Images and Film by Lydia Stamps Photography.
Lydia Stamps Photography and the team, known for their creativity, were inspired by Pantone’s 2024 colour of the year, Peach Fuzz. They chose Millbridge Court as the venue, a place that beautifully blends nostalgic charm with modern design, echoing Peach Fuzz’s essence.

The decor featured playful, retro details like scalloped stationery and a peach-themed escort board. Fashion choices included romantic gowns with bows, and Ellie from Dorset Flowers created stunning floral arrangements, including a unique flower arch on the oak arbour. We love!

Notes from the Photographer

Lydia says…

We wanted a venue which perfectly reflected how Pantone described their colour for 2024, Peach Fuzz. Pantone says Peach Fuzz “reflects the past yet…refashioned with a contemporary ambience.” This is absolutely the look and feeling that Millbridge Court has. The mix of the original brick house contrasting and combining perfectly with its large contemporary ceremony and dining spaces was the perfect fit. This mix of old and new is carried through not only in the building but also in the finishings of the venue. The outdoor ceremony arbour has a natural, rustic warmth, and the panelling in their dining room space both nods to the past while being contemporary and bang on trend.

Pantone describes Peach Fuzz as “A heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration.” This perfectly encapsulates the gathering of loved ones to celebrate a wedding and the community and collaboration involved in creating an editorial shoot. We used this as our starting point to inspire the flowers, stationery, and drinks. We shot the editorial in spring, which suits the colour. However, we found that peaches are out of season in April! Thankfully, our stylist managed to find fruit for her incredible escort-style table plan!

We wanted the fashion to have the same mix of nostalgia with a contemporary feel that Pantone described, and what better motif represents this than bows? Bows have such an air of romance and nostalgia! So, as soon as we started planning the fashion, we wanted bows to play a big part in the styling. We chose the incredible Nella gown by Wtoo from Bridal Indulgence, with a statement bow and romantic full skirt. For a change of pace, we created a fun evening look with the Palmier dress by Watters featuring statement bow-tied shoulder straps. This is a fabulous evening dress, thanks to the sequins and the fluttery skirt, which would be amazing on the dance floor! Of course, the bows were also carried through in the accessories, with an incredible pearl bow and pearl earrings, a mini bow from Victoria Percival’s new collection, and bow-tied shoes from Charlotte Mills.

The warmth and playful feel of Peach Fuzz are present in every décor element. From the fun shapes, scalloping and tassels of the stationery to the peachy escort board featuring fruit, a fun and interactive play on the traditional table plan. We mixed shapes and a retro font to give each element that mix of modernity, while keeping things fun and warm. We’ve even incorporated peach into the drinks stations, including a fun pink Paloma station, which would be a wonderful addition at any cocktail hour to wow your guests!

The flowers were perfectly brought to life by Ellie from Dorset Flowers. She created an incredible flower arch for the ceremony with tulips conditioned in a way I’ve never seen before, making the broken arch look truly unique. The flowers were plentiful to create lots of impact, mixing raununculus, roses and Icelandic poppies.

Couples can be inspired by using real fruit as a décor element. They can throw the traditional seating plan out of the window to create a fun, memorable and interactive moment for their guests. The colour is also fun to pull through in many parts of the day, from fashion to flowers to drinks and dessert stations. This shoot shows contemporary doesn’t have to mean clean and white!
