Lavender Dreams – A Modern Pastel Editorial

Written by Caitlin Hoare
A contemporary, playful wedding aesthetic in the traditional, rustic setting of Godwick. It shouldn’t work, but it does.

Found nestled in the Norfolk countryside, this ancient barn has seen and hosted too many weddings and celebrations to count over the years, but potentially nothing quite as striking as today’s offering. Platform heels, disco balls, minimalist styling and perspex furniture, aren’t the first things you associate with a rustic barn wedding venue. It’s wonderfully modern and a breath of fresh air from the norm.

Still unsure? Let this drop-dead gorgeous gallery by Georgia Rachael Photography convince you…

Godwick was the perfect spacious canvas for this shoot. I had wanted to bring a very modern style to a rustic barn; the height was perfect above the tables, creating something different with cascading fabric from the barn windows for a real moment.

Our theme was fun, feminine and full of the joys of spring, incorporating pastel prettiness with a base of lilac, peach and lemon.

We chose a base of white through lots of the decor pieces, with the primary highlight colour of lilac with peaches, pinks and lemons through the flowers, stationery and smaller details.

The fashion was super fun with two short dress styles, mesh gloves and a big hair bow. Our bride wore a chic low bun with tousled, textured hair to frame the face, fresh pastel makeup, and mega pastel platforms. Then we changed into a slick Madi Lane via The Bottom Drawer Bridal with thigh split for a disco evening feel complete with glitter makeup. And the cutest little ‘mini-me’ flower girl inspiration and puppy!

The space was transformed using a base of modern white styling pieces and lots of spring florals; we used a waterfall of white and lilac netting falling from Godwick’s windows and lilac up lighters for the backdrop to the space. Floral Sistas created a growing floor-to-ceiling floating floral backdrop onto white metal structures, with lots of candlelight and again working in a lilac uplighter for a contemporary way to add light to the space.

The tablescape was playful with stone slabs, marble candle holders, and white metal arch shapes through the tables with fruit and wavy edge designed stationery in white, lilac and raspberry. The scene was finished with a striking lilac and lemon scallop cake from Edge by Imogen Davison and a pretty pastel pink-styled lounge area with pink neon signage.

Floral Sistas always works brilliantly to any brief; we went through ideas for something fun and textural appealing to a forward-thinking couple who love colour. They used a mix of spring flowers: anemone, ranunculus, Limonium, lisianthus, roses, coloured ferns, tulips, clematis and narcissi.

This shoot would be a super fun-loving couple’s dream day. There are so many details and moments to be shared; I could imagine a champagne tower and them sharing pizza slices in the lounge and a great big party with coloured confetti cannons!
