Love on the Lanes

We’re ending this week o’ love with this beaut of an editorial at Holmes Mill in Lancashire.

Holmes Mill in Clitheroe is a converted Cotton Mill which has stayed true to its industrial roots and showcases some of its fantastic original features. Exposed brick walls are in abundance, giving this shoot a contemporary, quirky feel. This editorial is jam-packed with V-Day inspo, and we’re crushing on it all.

Notes from the Venue

The concept creators, Feathers & Florence bridal studio, aimed to a bring a chic, electrifying city vibe to the Ribble Valley, utilising and accentuating the quirky venue of Holmes Mill and the surrounding streets of Clitheroe. Keeping the fashion timeless and elegant, we accessorised with vibrant pink florals to tie in the fun and funky Bowling Alley.

As the Bowling Alley features atmospheric décor, the chosen colour palette was vibrant, featuring fuchsia pinks with contrasting burgundy tones to bring a light-hearted feel to a moody environment.

The ceremony bridal style was a fitted, crepe dress designed by Stephanie Allin and available at Feathers & Florence. The dress is a modern, minimalist dress featuring elegant, traditional bridal elements including bridal buttons and a lush train. The dress has a feminine square neckline and back and was paired with a fingertip, Pearl veil designed and crafted by Tulle & Flo Bridal, for added subtle glam.

The evening dress was a hand-painted dress designed by Dream by Savin London (available at Feathers & Florence). The dress features delicate brush strokes, creating a petal design of blush and vibrant pinks. This dress is a show-stopping option, perfect for brides looking to incorporate exquisite detail and design to their aisle style.

The styling and décor was kept quite simple to showcase the industrial chic setting of the bowling alley and the outdoor areas at Holmes Mill. Belinda, of Flower B Florist, was our florist and although a Lancaster-based florist they travel wide and far to help couples shape the feel and mood of their wedding day with stunning florals.

Feathers & Florence regularly collaborate with Flower B Florist so we had complete trust in Belinda and provided pictures of the bridal dresses and a Pinterest board of the tones and colours we wanted to achieve. We asked that greenery wasn’t used in the bouquet or floral installations to achieve a modern, city vibe.

Recreating this feel for your wedding is easy, just have fun with it! Choose a colour palette that brings you joy and once you’ve found a florist you can trust, they will help you bring your visions to life!

We would advise that you find your dream venue first. Your venue atmosphere and décor will help shape the vibe of your wedding. Once you have found your venue, it is important to collaborate with your wedding suppliers and ask for advice, as they have experience and can guide you to creating a ‘Pinterest-worthy’ wedding vibe.
