Jon & Jonathan’s Huntsham Court Wedding

Huntsham’s period charm and relaxed grandeur suited this gorgeous pair down to the ground. They sealed the deal in February this year with the help of their ‘legend‘ wedding planner and right-hand woman, Jenny. You really can’t underestimate how much care, effort and expertise venue event staff pour into each and every wedding so it’s wonderful to hear how much J+J appreciated everything that Jenny, their suppliers and the wider venue team did to contribute to their beautiful bash.

They also have some cracking wedding advice that I can certainly get behind and I hope you do too, ‘Be indulgent and celebrate yourselves’. Amen to that.

Jon & Jonathan say…

Huntsham Court offered us everything we hoped for in a venue and didn’t think we’d ever find; character, period features and opulent interiors without feeling staged or stifled. It had ample room so we were able to have all our family and friends around us for the entire weekend, plus there were plenty of photo opportunities. We were also able to stamp our personalities on it which I think is unique and makes you feel like they knew what we wanted and that we weren’t just another couple getting married, it genuinely felt like our venue. Everything flowed joyously and easily, with the Huntsham team feeling like they were part of the wedding. Our guests commented on how fantastic they all were and they made sure that our parents wanted for nothing.

We both had off the peg tweed suits. J wore pink tweed with a hand drawn blue hydrangea silk tie and pocket square, a vintage fob pocket watch and navy two tone brogues. I wore a navy tweed suit with a very faint pink check, multicolour paint splatter silk bow tie and pocket square and rose gold stilettos…because I could haha!

Our wedding planner (a title that doesn’t do her any justice)…our legend, Jenny, helped us to find the right suppliers for what we wanted and how we wanted our wedding to feel. She got them all spot on and they delivered exactly what we wanted and everything was totally us. Nothing felt bulk made! Our caterers Leanne & Mike from M Welsh Catering created food that was exquisite to look at and bountiful in portions and flavour. Sophie, our florist, from Earth Gallery Flowers created flowing, relaxed displays of flowers that didn’t fight with the venue and decor but complemented it and was just as grand without feeling gaudy. Our photographer Matt Bowen Photography knew we didn’t want staged photos and was able to capture the full feeling and atmosphere in all his shots. He mingled with all our friends and family and captured some of the most stunning moments that if it wasn’t for him, we would have missed. Everyone has told us, and we’ve heard 3rd hand too, that it’s one of the best weddings they have ever been to and it was just so full of love and everything you could wish for…and without our legend it would not have been possible.

Jenny says…

Having worked with Matt Bowen over many years now, I knew he would be the perfect fit for J&J. His ability to work with light and dark worked perfectly for the time of year, plus I knew he would know how to put everyone at ease for natural photos.

Matt always brings a bit of style to the wedding day, usually with a fabulous floral shirt and bright bow tie, making him easy to find amongst the guests. On this occasion though, the guests brought so much glamour, colour and panache with their wedding outfits that Matt fit right in!

I am a big fan of the photos of J&J on the stairs for their couples shots, these images are so natural and really captures them as a couple in that moment.

Best part of the Day

Without mentioning the obvious elements of the day like the vows, the cheers, the flowing drinks, we had a beautiful moment at about 10:30am when the pianist arrived and was setting up and we asked him to play an Ivor Novello song. The florist was starting to create the main feature so there was a smell of fresh cut flowers, our family and friends were milling around and we could hear faint chatter and laughter in the background and we both just sat on the chairs set up for the ceremony and took it all in. It became overwhelming and we both just filled up with tears, it was so beautiful. That was the moment that we felt all the love, support and generosity of emotions from all our family and friends and that we could show everyone the love we have for each other, without any prejudice or fear which was truly magical.

Jenny’s favourite moment and special touch

Working with this couple was just pure joy, they were open to ideas but at the same time knew what they wanted.
One of my highlights was the couples-only wedding breakfast table. J&J couldn’t single out family and friends to be on a top table and let’s face it, how much time do the happy couple actually get alone on the big day to take it all in? So they sat right in the centre of everyone, on a small table for 2 with just a candelabras and some elegant white and green flowers for decor. It could not have been more perfect or more them. I checked in on them throughout the meal to see how they were, and each time they were absolutely beaming. Friends and family nipped over between courses (and during) to congratulate them, so they never felt out of the loop, but they did get some get some well deserved one on one time to soak it all in.

From one couple to another…

Enjoy every minute of it because everyone is there for you. Be selfish and do your wedding your way. Be indulgent and celebrate yourselves. Get used to using spreadsheets too, they will become your best friend!
