Izzy and Henry’s celebration was pure venue love at first sight, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why. Prioritising an intimate atmosphere, sunset swims, and even blessing their ceremony with a touch of rain, this Cornish gem gave them everything they dreamed of and more. Oh, and did we mention the freshly baked brownies on arrival? Venues—take note!
With destination wedding vibes galore in the south of England, Treseren provided the perfect location for barefoot newlywed shots on the beach (yes, please!) and a wedding menu their guests will be talking about for years to come. From a heartfelt Friday night Shabbat with their families to starting new traditions and honouring old ones, Izzy and Henry created a true feast for the senses.
After tying the knot, they extended their stay with days spent exploring the Cornish coast, indulging in local delights, and soaking up every last bit of the magic. They called it the perfect wedding week, and honestly? I can’t disagree.
We saw Treseren pop up on social media, and it was like love at first sight! We always knew we wanted an intimate wedding with only our close friends and family so when we found that Treseren only held weddings for 22 guests, we thought PERFECT! We also wanted somewhere that had a destination wedding feel but was still in the UK – to avoid our guests worrying about travelling abroad. Cornwall held a very special place in Henry’s heart. Every year, his family would holiday on the Cornish coast, and he had so many childhood memories there. We thought that this could be the start of our own family tradition, and we plan on spending many summers there in the future.
The heart and soul of our wedding was undoubtedly Treseren. From the moment we walked through the door, the smell of freshly baked brownies filled the house, and we knew we were in for a treat! This is one thing that stood out to us all weekend – all our senses were catered for! The taste of the freshest Cornish produce, the smell of lavender and verbena from the garden, the beautiful views of the lush grounds as we opened the original sash windows every morning, the warmth from the fire pit and the music that filled the house all weekend. Every member of the Treseren team went above and beyond to make us feel at home – it really did feel like we were part of the family. And when we were planning, Treseren helped us choose our other suppliers from their list of trusted partners. We couldn’t have been happier with our choices!
I actually got my dress second-hand! I’d tried on many dresses in various bridal boutiques and just didn’t feel like myself in them. Spending so much on a dress you wear once in your life also felt so wasteful. I’d heard of this website Still White, and out of curiosity, I searched for my favourite designer (Romanova Atelier) and found my dream dress being sold 20 miles down the road from me, and in my size too! I went to try on the dress, and we had the most gorgeous time looking at all her wedding photos and reminiscing about her day. It felt even more special knowing this dress had been loved before and that so many beautiful memories had already been made in it. It also meant I could fully enjoy every single moment of our wedding, running on the beach, giving piggybacks to our nephews and dancing all night without worrying about anyone standing on my ridiculously long train because at the end of the day… it’s just a dress!
Sofie Michelle Photography married her love of the wild Cornish lifestyle and landscape with our fun-loving personalities to create stunning, cinematic and timeless shots. Our florist was Blossom & Kelp; sustainability was important to us, so we loved how Rachel sources her flowers from local growers. Not only did the florals transform the venue into a beautiful, romantic, whimsical haven, but the smell throughout the whole house and all the guests said how magical it was. And our chef, Chef Fiona NZ, treated us to an absolute feast created from locally sourced ingredients. We had several dietary requirements in our wedding party but Fiona took them all in her stride and created a menu that we will remember for years.
Funnily enough, one of the day’s most memorable moments was when it started to shower during our ceremony! We’d had our hearts set on getting married under the majestic Walnut tree in the Treseren garden, and the weather looked perfect in the morning – but right as Izzy walked down the aisle, a few drops of rain began to fall! It made us all laugh at how typical it was – and the Treseren staff were immediately on hand with umbrellas for the seated guests.
We loved the upright piano in the drawing room—our wedding party included quite a few musicians. The piano was the centrepiece of our final evening at Treseren, with everyone playing and singing together. We loved hosting our first Jewish Friday Night Dinner!
Izzy’s family is Jewish, so we wanted to include some traditional elements despite not having a religious ceremony. Friday night dinner (the Shabbat ceremony) is one of the oldest Jewish traditions, where all the family gathers to enjoy food, good company and a chance to connect on a spiritual level. Treseren was accommodating and helped us make all of our ideas a reality, including serving two enormous Challah loaves in the shape of our initials!
We knew we didn’t want our wedding just to be ‘the big day’ – we wanted to cherish every moment of the Cornish experience and create memories that would last a lifetime. We started our adventure the day after our ceremony, with all our guests joining us for a walk along the Crantock cliffs and beach before a Sunday roast with a jaw-dropping view at the Lewinnick Lodge. We even went for a sunset swim to round off the weekend! After our guests headed home the next day, we checked into the Scarlet Hotel at Mawgan Porth and enjoyed a blissful couple of days relaxing and exploring the local villages and coves. We’re very adventurous and love taking any opportunity to disappear down an unmarked track in search of a hidden beach! After the Scarlet, we headed down to St Ives, where we used the decadent lodgings at Host as a base while we explored the southern tip of Cornwall. The weather was perfect, and our days were filled with sea swims, ice creams, pasties and the overwhelming feeling that we’d done it exactly right – the perfect wedding week!
In the 10 years we’ve been together, we’ve imagined various different wedding scenarios for ourselves, from full-blown parties for hundreds of guests to eloping with just the two of us. To make it easier, we wrote a list of what was important for us on our wedding day – and realised that most of all, we wanted to be able to spend meaningful time with our nearest and dearest. We tried to prioritise quality over quantity, and by having an intimate wedding with only 22 guests, we could tailor the day to suit both ourselves and our closest friends and family.
The best thing about having a small wedding is that you can spend quality time with every one of your guests, rather than running around hundreds of people on the day, only snatching a quick hello here and there. So our advice would be to not overthink in the planning and preparation stages – of course, it’s important to plan the wedding you want, but also remember that the people will make the day special. So trust that when you’ve got your loved ones all together in one place, you won’t worry about the tiny details – you’ll just enjoy yourself in the moment.
