Briony & Kerry’s Love Story in the Vines

Written by Emma Hla
Briony & Kerry married last June at Brickhouse Vineyard in the South West of England.

The couple had visited several venues before finding Brickhouse and were impressed with the beauty of the venue, its capacity, and its secluded surroundings. The barn and roundhouse provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding.

B & K say to all future brides and grooms to “go hard or go home” when planning a wedding… and we couldn’t agree more! We also love their recommendation for providing small touches to make guests feel welcome. All in all, it’s a beautiful, colourful and love-filled celebration!

Over to our brides for all the details.

Notes from the Couple

Briony & Kerry say…

We had visited a few venues across the South West, none of them quite having that special feeling we wanted to match our love story, until we found Brickhouse Vineyard. Having made a great connection with Jo over a Zoom call, we were excited to make our first visit. We loved it. From the moment you enter the driveway to Brickhouse Vineyard you get transported into a little piece of paradise. It really is special place.

The barn and roundhouse provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding. The mix of original features and Scandi-style really makes it a beautiful venue. A blank canvas ready to styled in any way you can imagine. The outside area, surrounded by the vines provides the perfect backdrop for photos and feels secluded. It was the capacity of the venue that really sealed the deal for us. Allowing us to enjoy a wedding that felt intimate and romantic whilst still being surrounded by all of our loved ones.

The team at Brickhouse are second to none. The communication, wedding day vibes and the overall experience was everything we could of asked for and we are so thankful for them for making the biggest day of our lives perfect.

Two brides… two dresses! Briony brought her dress locally in Devon from Champagne & Charlotte. And I bought mine at home in Leicestershire from a small boutique shop called Bradgate Brides. Both very different dresses yet we managed without knowing to complement each other. We both accessorised with hair pins, Bobby Pin supplied beautiful hair pins that complemented my simple white dress.

We had 7 bridesmaids, all in the same blush pink dresses brought online from ASOS. They looked great. It was a really easy, we could choose individual styles in the same colour and fabric to suit each bridesmaid. Our hair and makeup teams were from the South West. Lucille and Co blew us away, Harriet was amazing to have with us on our wedding day. Our makeup looked amazing, lasting the whole day. Harriet was calm, lovely to chat to and clearly brilliant at what she does. Kyrell from Devon Wedding Hair created beautiful hair for myself and my bridesmaids. Her distinctive style added a special touch to our overall look, making us feel incredible and beautiful. April from April Natalie Hair created a sleek updo for Briony and helped keep the wedding nerves at bay!

We would probably say we didn’t have a theme, however when discussing our wedding with our florist and tableware designer Kate Wren, all we really made clear was that we loved flowers especially her Valentine’s bouquet. We really wanted roses and British flowers to be the main feature of our overall decor. After our first consultation with Kate we were happy for her to work her creative magic. We discussed colours of pinks, reds and not too much greenery. From there we gave Kate free reign to create flower designs and table decor for the day. On the wedding day, Kate had truly captured our vision. The whole venue looked beautiful, our guests were overwhelmed with the flowers and the attention to detail. The decor created a perfect environment for our love to shine though. We added lights to the barn and roundhouse that really made it feel extra special and outside we provided furniture supplied by The Natural Hire Company. Both suppliers were very good, easy to book and communicate with.

All of the wedding catering was provided by Mulberry Catering Co. From the initial contact with Mulberry, Chelsea was incredibley professional and organised. We served a range of canapés for our guests after the ceremony. These were in abundance and included vegan alteratives for a few our guests. The wedding breakfast menu gave our guests a 3 dish choice per course. The catering team were on top of the guest choices and table plans. Additional dietary requirements were also arranged and catered for with ease. We never felt like we couldn’t change or add something extra to our day. Chelsea and the team were always accommodating and they worked seamlessly with the Brickhouse team. This helped to provide a warm, relaxed feeling to the wedding day.

Erzulie Cakes provided our wedding cake and it was one of the best decisions we made having initially considered making our own! Nina and her team were reliable, so professional and talented. It was flawless.

Our photographer was LDillon Photography. We came across her work on Instagram. Lauren has a fun, enthusiastic personality and we instantly loved the idea of her shooting our wedding. On the day she was organised, put us both at ease in front of the camera and was also great with the younger guests at the wedding, making them smile and laugh, creating some gorgeous photos. Our team of videographers were Urban Photo Lab. Another supplier we found online, their videos will blow you away. Vladimir and Paulina were great to be around on our wedding day, always smiling, capturing all of our guests with great ease and creativity.

Best part of the day

The best part of our day was probably that we had all of our loved ones in one special place to be with us during our ceremony. The roundhouse provided a beautiful intimate space for us. The registrar Barbara captured the moment beautifully, with the overall marriage ceremony reflecting our love story perfectly. Truly a moment we will hold close to our heart forever.

From one couple to another…

  • Go hard or go home, you are only going to do this once!
  • It is nice to have all the things you want to have (it is your day) but guests will love any little things you can do to make them feel welcome – food options, comfort box with essentials, children’s favours etc.
  • Consider the traditions. We initially weren’t going to do first dance, buy a cake, see each other before the day but in the end we followed a lot of the traditions and are glad we did. It really gave structure to the day and they all become really lovely memories.
  • Book a honeymoon for as soon as the wedding is over, you’ll need the rest!
