Autumnal Boho Wedding Inspiration at Oakfield Gardens

Written by Caitlin Hoare
It’s a pleasure to welcome Oakfield Gardens to the Blog today for their very first feature, and what a corker it is!

Oakfield’s beautiful gardens provided the perfect setting for this autumnal bohemian styled shoot. Featuring a warm colour palette, a wonderful blend of fresh and dried flower arrangements and the most magical tipi styling I’ve seen in a while – fairy lights galore!

If you love this venue as much as I do they have an Open Day coming up on 16th October between 4pm – 8pm where couples will be able to experience the magic of the tipis and spectacular grounds as the sun goes down. Enjoy some live music, food and drinks, chat to their fab team and basically just soak up the bloomin’ lovely atmosphere, in the most stunning setting. Find out more HERE.

Notes from the Venue

Pete says…

The inspiration for the shoot at Oakfield Gardens was to create an autumnal bohemian wedding set in the stunning grounds of Oakfield Gardens. The venue is situated within the grounds of an independent school which boasts an arboretum, woodland and secret gardens. The styled shoot took place in their brand new Nordic tipis – magically tucked away behind hedgerows and trees. The Nordic tipi is a blank canvas for couples, allowing them to get creative and style the space however they like for their big day.

The key colour palette for the shoot included sage green, burnt orange, blush and gold which were used to enhance the true beauty of the season and to complement the gorgeous setting and greenery of Oakfield Gardens. As the shoot was on a beautiful sunny day, we were able to fully utilise the grounds of Oakfield Gardens to show just how truly beautiful an autumnal wedding can be. The shoot ran into the evening so we were able to light up the trees and the grounds to show how magical this season and the venue really are.

Maria wore a bohemian inspired embroidered tulle dress with a mermaid silhouette and long sleeves by White One supplied by Annabel Sarah Bridal. The gown has a flirty keyhole back and inserts that give the fishtail skirt extra kick. This was styled with a beautiful tulle cathedral length veil. We opted for soft glam with her make up by Jessica Ava, and a simple inverted ponytail styled by NB Hair. Groom Tom wore an elegant tuxedo from French Connection, a bow tie from Reiss and shoes from Saville Row Co.

The autumnal bohemian theme was incorporated into all elements of the wedding styling including the flowers, stationery, the cake and the overall decor of the Nordic tipi. Autumnal bohemian is a fantastic theme because it allows you to tie in so many different elements to the day. For this shoot we used dried flowers as the main focus for the floral arrangements and included pampas grass, roses and lots of greenery along with tones of orange and gold. The tables were set by The Wedding House Droitwich who used rust muslin table runners, a mix of hessian chair ties and rust chiffon vertical drops as well as sage green napkins. They also supplied the absolutely stunning pampas arch which was the backdrop for the ceremony area. Cakes by Karen created a semi naked 3 tier wedding cake with a blush frosted bottom tier and an arrangement of dried flowers to decorate – I can confirm it tasted as good as it looked!

The stationery for the shoot was created by Bellapeach Creative, a bespoke wedding stationery designer who can turn any concept or style into reality. They created a stunning set of stationery that fully incorporated the autumnal bohemian theme with gold hexagons at the centre of the design with pampas grass and roses set into the design to show off the beauty of the flowers. As well as the unique 5ft metal hoop table plan and stylish order of the day board, the tables were also laid with individual menu cards, place names and table numbers tying the theme together perfectly.

Simply Borrowed Wedding Hire provided the gorgeous drinks bike (which we actually filled with flowers), milk churns, table decor, suitcase and trinkets which all added some rustic boho charm to the shoot, perfect additions to any tipi wedding.

What is a wedding with out a bit of photo booth fun? For this we had the wonderful Mad Hat Photo Booth set up their dreamy boho arches with a fabulous dried flower arrangement from Dried & Tied Bouquets. Their backdrops worked so well against the lush green hedgerow and made for some pretty fabulous shots.

Rebecca Kate Flowers & Sweet Ginger Flowers were the florists for this shoot. As the colour palette was chosen to complement the surroundings of the beautiful grounds, they opted for muted dusty tones, garden blooms and dried flowers to take centre stage accompanied by seasonal foliage. We used premium roses, hydrangeas, stocks, dahlias and foliage including Italian ruscus and eucalyptus.

This simplistic boho chic look can be easily recreated for couples which is what we wanted to achieve. We hoped that this could really enable couples to envision their wedding here at Oakfield Gardens and how simply magical it could be.
