With an intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall and a relaxed yet elegant dinner tucked away in the streets of Chelsea, their celebration was filled with local suppliers, personal touches, and plenty of city charm. From a Self Portrait dress and hand-tied red bows to late-night espresso martinis, this London love story had it all.
We live in London, so it was really important for us to have an iconic London location, and Chelsea Old Town Hall fitted the bill perfectly. I was so excited to be in the bustle of busy London and take lots of photos in our favourite city.
I went through a million outfit options that Matt had no idea what I would be wearing on the day! I originally had a trouser suit from Club Monaco, but I wasn’t keen on the trousers. Then I saw this Self Portrait dress, and I thought it was so special. Luckily, it went perfectly with the Club Monaco jacket, and I knew I had found THE ONE.
Due to the beaded bralette, I wanted some subtle jewellery, so I paired it with hoop drop pearl earrings from Lily & Roo to match the oyster colour of the dress. My mum also gifted me a dainty diamond necklace from Monica Vinader, which topped off the look for me. I paired the outfit with some crystal embellished heels (just from ASOS!) and slipped into some satin pumps from Zara Home for dancing into the early hours. My mum and I spent the morning at Blo Bar in Chiswick, and I opted for a Hollywood waves look to complement the old-school glamour of the dress.
Matt had a tailored suit made from Suitsupply, which fit perfectly, and he paired this with some personalised gold cufflinks engraved with our wedding date.
I designed and printed our invites, all keeping on a classic black and white theme with red accents. I love the playful, handwritten look of the invites, which were monochrome, and I paired this with hand-tied red satin bows that I fixed to the front. The venue provided small clusters of flowers on the tables and classic white tablecloths. We were lucky enough to get married just the week before the Chelsea Flower Show, so the outside of our dinner venue was adorned with a spectacular display of flowers!
I wanted something simple, chic, and timeless, and I wanted to make the most of the short peony season. I always knew I wanted Wheelers of Chiswick to put together my bouquet, as they are a local supplier. I grew up in Chiswick and would walk past their beautiful flower stalls most days, so it was an exciting moment to ask them to create my wedding bouquet. They made my simple white peony bouquet perfectly! Matt’s white buttonhole set off his dark navy suit, tying our outfits together.
We were honoured to have Lockdown Bakehouse make our wedding cake as they are local to where Matt and I now live together in Earlsfield. We are lucky to have one of their bakeries just at the end of our road! We had our cake in keeping with the colour theme set by the invitations – a chocolate cake on the inside, light vanilla buttercream frosting, and a beautiful array of raspberries over the top to give that pop of red!
We wanted to host guests somewhere locally to Chelsea Town Hall, and after doing a lot of ‘research’ on all the local pubs, The Surprise fit the bill. Tucked behind the residential streets of Chelsea, The Surprise is understated yet elevated, the service and food are exceptional, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have the private room to ourselves. With the large Georgian windows, we basked in the evening light as we shared bubbles and dinner with friends. Alongside espresso martinis, we commandeered the speakers for a few late-night boogies!
We chose Molly due to her experience as a fashion photographer, and her editorial flair appealed to us instantly. She was a dream to work with, start to finish, ensuring we felt listened to and understood as a couple. We requested lots of London-based photos, including black cabs, double-decker buses, Albert Bridge, and even went down onto the tube platform for photos! She was a warm and calming presence throughout the day, and we felt perfectly captured.
The best part of the day was bringing our nearest and dearest together. It was such a magical and intimate day that we will hold onto forever.
The day goes by in a flash, but the photos last forever – we couldn’t be happier with the moments that Molly captured that will stay in our hearts forever!
