A Gypsophila-Filled Davenport House

by Caitlin Hoare
Images by Iris & Ivy Photography.
Clouds of gypsophila and fine art wedding details meet in a luxurious Georgian country house in Shropshire.

Photographer Iris & Ivy Photography and florist April & Bloom took inspiration from Davenport House‘s light-filled drawing room and elegant bridal suite, added billowing clouds of gypsophila, a classic sage green and white colour palette, and some modern, minimalistic vibes to create this timeless, fine art wedding editorial.

From the frothy blooms to the expertly-styled table decor, the pretty bridal accessories to the beautiful backdrops within Davenport House’s storied walls – this styled shoot is pure romance.

Notes from the Photographer

Jo says…

Davenport House, a magnificent Georgian estate in the countryside, exudes history, elegance, and romance. With its extraordinary setting and picturesque surroundings, the venue instantly captivates. The light-filled drawing room and sophisticated bridal suite became the perfect backdrop for our vision—a luxurious styled shoot where modern luxe meets fine art.

The theme, characterised by simplicity and minimalist styling, blends seamlessly with timeless florals, luxury stationery, and refined cake design, offering inspiration for a small, intimate, luxury wedding breakfast.

The classic palette of fresh sage greens and crisp whites, shot in a light, airy, and soft nostalgic style, creates a contrast for a timeless and modern springtime wedding. TDR Bridal showcased unembellished bridal gowns by Maddison James and Wilderly, keeping in line with modern and minimalistic vibes. The black-tie tuxedo for the groom adds a timeless touch.

Michelle G Hair & Makeup Artists prepped our bride’s skin with Embroyisse and Nars concealer. She followed with Catrice’s full-coverage foundation, a YSL palette for the eyes, Anastasia Beverly Hills on the eyebrows, Charlotte Tilbury blusher and highlighter, and Orflame lipstick. Charlotte Holder was the perfect stylist for the hair, creating two completely different romantic styles to complement each dress. Becky from Laurel Lime contributed handcrafted accessories and jewellery echoing fine art vibes; her delicate baby’s breath hair pins mirrored the gypsophila florals, evoking a sense of nature and beauty. These worked perfectly in the textured low bun style. Headdresses featuring handmade clay flowers, freshwater, and glass pearls were the perfect finishing touch for the hair-down style.

Kirsty from KM Stationery & Design added fine art vibes to the stationery. Kirsty’s designs were crafted with hand-deckled edges and finished with a sage green ribbon from invites, RSVPs, menus and a groom’s speech booklet that all tie in with the feel of the wedding. April & Bloom‘s Lucy, the creative force behind the florals and styling, orchestrated a visually stunning tablescape. A beautifully crafted ruffled table runner, skillfully combining sage green and taupe, adorned the centre, adding a touch of elegance and breaking up the whites while subtly referencing gold accents. Trays of exquisite gypsophila graced the runner, accompanied by white candles in glass holders and gold-accented cutlery beside gold-rimmed glass plates. Towards the table’s end, a captivating floral display unfolded—a cascading table runner, a cloud of gypsophila, and strategically placed white roses encircled by candles in square glass vessels. Additionally, the fireplace draped with clouds of gypsophila created a romantic visual impact, framing the enchanting tablescape.

Perfect Cakes Co‘s Charlotte embraced light and shadows with sculptural simplicity in three cakes adorned with gypsophila flowers.

As a fine art photographer, I love to capture timeless and dreamy styles that beautifully capture the essence of the day. By slightly emulating film, I provide a nostalgic feel. Each element, from attire to accessories and decor, seamlessly contributed to the dreamy and inviting atmosphere of this minimalist yet luxurious bridal photoshoot.
