The Woodyard is a stunning range of traditional thatched and Norfolk brick barns tucked into the Worstead Estate’s 300-acre private parkland. Set within landscaped grounds, The Woodyard’s west terrace overlooks a sweeping lawn with romantic pathways leading to a beautiful lake and island. The patchwork brick and pretty fruit trees of the estate’s walled garden stand proud above the west lawn, enhancing the feeling of peaceful seclusion. Once the sawmill for Worstead Estate and now lovingly restored, the barns retain their original features, with spectacular oak beams and traditional Norfolk brick. The combination of rustic charm, character and modern luxuries, tucked into a peaceful and private lakeside setting, creates a truly unique venue.
Couples can choose between indoor and outdoor ceremony settings, such as the Thatched Barn, which features striking brickwork, a vaulted ceiling, and chandeliers, or the serene and natural beauty of the lake and surrounding grounds. For more intimate occasions of up to 50 people, The Woodyard offers the option to host a ceremony on Lake Island, set against a breathtaking backdrop of leafy woodland and calm waters.
40-120 guests can comfortably sit for dinner in your chosen room. Each space can be decorated as you like, allowing couples to create a unique indoor setting for their perfect day. Outside, the landscaped grounds provide a wonderfully romantic setting for drinks reception, afternoon entertainment, and photographs. Doors open onto the east-facing courtyard, whilst the Thatched Barn opens onto the sun-kissed West Terrace, the perfect spot for an alfresco cocktail hour.
Worstead Estate offers a range of accommodation with four on-site options and two affiliated cottages nearby, collectively accommodating up to 45 guests. Just across from The Woodyard, looking out over the east courtyard, is Estate Cottage, their splendid Georgian cottage. Classic elegance and modern amenities combine to provide luxury accommodation throughout, with three double bedrooms, a private hot tub and a games room, all set neatly within its own walled garden. Holly House, Gatehouse North and New Lane Cottage sleep up to 25 guests (together), and each brings its unique character along with luxury furnishings, BBQs and outdoor dining, private hot tubs and beautiful gardens.
Guests can enjoy Wildcraft Brewery beer, brewed on the estate using traditional cropping methods for spring barley grown on the estate’s farmed land. This offers a local, authentic touch to the wedding experience.
The venue offers parking for 50 cars, including disabled parking, and is easily accessible for guests.
My husband and I had our wedding at Worstead last week, and it was honestly the most wonderful weekend of our lives!
The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous – we have received so many positively blooming compliments about the venue itself, from the relaxing countryside feel to the intimacy of only having two rooms but still enough space for lots of guests, to the enjoyment people had playing football and lawn games on the grass area, and obviously about the absolute beauty which is the lake situated near the barn.
It is a perfect venue if couples don’t want to spend lots of time and money decorating a venue, as it is just gorgeous, exactly how it is! A beautifully converted barn with wonderful brickwork but a warm feel, an intimate bar, toilets and changing facilities, disabled access and a huge room to dine in, which worked wonders in the evening for a quiet space for guests who wanted a little time out from the disco!
Marie, the venue manager, was an absolute delight to work with, making suggestions as we set up the venue the day before, which we never would’ve thought of ourselves and made the day run so smoothly. However she didn’t feel like a manager on the big day, she felt like a guest and a friend who was just as excited about our day as we were!
Myself and my bridesmaids stayed the night before at the estate cottage on site, which was just a perfect place to relax the night before the wedding and get ready the morning of.
I cannot recommend Worstead enough, we wish we could do our day all over again and it just wouldn’t have been the same at any other venue!

It was the perfect venue for the perfect day! We fell in love with it from the start. The grounds are spectacular, and the daffodils are in full force in spring time, which is a real added treat. Emily is so on the ball as a wedding coordinator and doesn’t miss a trick or a leave a stone unturned! We would recommend every time if you’re looking for a stunning venue with someone who knows exactly what they’re doing.

Worstead is beautiful, and the accommodation is stunning. Holly House is next level. We had hoped for an outdoor wedding, and the weather let us down, but honestly, as cliche as it is, it didn’t matter. Along with the venue manager, Marie, and grounds manager, Steve, prepping for every eventuality. We were allowed in the venue a couple of days before, which really made a difference to us in terms of setting things up and feeling a bit more calm about all the prep. It was such a smooth and joyful day, and I know this was down to how much went on behind the scenes. No ask was too big. I’m a very organised/particular bride and I was so grateful for all the attention to detail that this venue helped with. Marie, the venue manager, is calm, kind, fun, and so organised. She even came to see me the morning of to check I was ok because I had been feeling anxious. You will be in such safe hands at this venue, and it is beautiful, come rain or shine. Totally recommend staying the night after the wedding for some hot tub R&R and reminiscing. Huge thanks and love.
Married September 2024
My wife and I got married at Worstead Estate, and it was honestly the most incredible day of our lives. We stayed all week prior to the wedding in the stunning estate cottage which was amazing, we could store wedding props in their huge garage ready for the setup. The hot tub was incredible, and the cottage itself was immaculate. Me and my groomsmen stayed in the newly renovated Gatehouse North which was also top drawer! A short walk to the venue the morning of the wedding helped calm nerves with the amazing field views. I cannot recommend this place enough. They’re always there if you need anything and made sure our day flowed smoothly, big shoutout to Marie and Emily who helped us along the way.
We will be back to enjoy it as a weekend away. 5 stars, without doubt.
Married June 2024
The venue is absolutely stunning! Amazing grounds, high-spec facilities, and a beautiful location. Emily, who manages the venue, was a dream to work with from the very beginning. We live in New Zealand, so having someone as professional, experienced, and organised as Emily made for an entirely seamless process, even from the other side of the world. We could not recommend this venue highly enough.

Thank you once again for a great weekend and all of your help in pulling it together & coordinating the day to ensure it all went so smoothly. We’ve had so many messages saying how lovely the venue was and how well managed it was by you on the day. It’s just a shame it’s all over so quickly, but we had a such a wonderful time and memories that will last a lifetime.
Married November 2022
The venue is beautiful and finished to a really high spec, and the grounds of the venue are amazing, with lots of green outside space and a lake and island which makes the venue feel really secluded. The venue manager Emily was fantastic to work with from beginning to end, and made the planning process really straightforward. Emily was professional, organised and really accommodating, allowing us to add personal touches to the decoration and organisation which made the day really special. We would very much recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a really unique venue.
Married August 2022
Worstead Estate was the best wedding venue for us, the setting is just stunning and so quaint. We wanted somewhere that offered indoor and outdoor options because the weather is unpredictable, and it was definitely the right choice; it met all of our requirements! Our guests couldn’t get over the serine surrounds. Marie was so helpful in the build up to the day with regular contact to make sure we were all on the same page. On the day, Marie was so great at making the day run so smoothly, which meant we could relax and enjoy the day knowing it was all taken care of. The Sunday after was amazing; they had organised all of our decorations and belongings for an easy pickup. We are so happy we chose Worstead Estate and will be recommending it to others.
