There’s a sense of discovery as you approach Wonderland. Hidden at the end of a private track in the Sussex countryside, this bohemian venue is surrounded by farmland and the South Downs. It feels like an artist’s retreat; secluded, atmospheric, and full of personality. Despite its tucked-away location, it’s only 20 minutes from Brighton and an hour from London, so your guests won’t have far to travel.
The venue was created by the founder of Glastonbury’s ‘Rabbit Hole’ stage, a playful, creative backdrop with music heritage at its core. Expect peacocks, unexpected details, and a few secrets to discover.
There’s a lake at the heart of the venue, perfect for a ceremony with a difference. You can say your vows beside the water, with the option of photos on the jetty or even in a rowing boat. It’s informal and full of character; a place that feels completely your own.
You’ll dine under canvas in a unique lined marquee with panoramic views. Afterwards, head to the secret barn for an after-party with serious atmosphere. It’s kitted out like a festival tent, complete with Funktion 1 PA system and space to dance until midnight.
The venue includes:
On-site accommodation has been carefully selected for its style and comfort, accommodating up to 20 guests as part of the hire. Each option has its own unique look, from the wooden-beamed Lake House to the playful Tiny House, complete with a flamingo chandelier.
Included in the hire:
Additional options:
Wonderland offers spa treatments including massages, reflexology and group sound baths. These are available during your weekend stay and can be arranged in advance.
The hire runs from 2pm on Friday to midday on Sunday, giving plenty of time to settle in, celebrate, and unwind. The spa deck features a wood-fired hot tub and sauna, ideal for a relaxing start to the weekend.
You’re free to arrange catering as you like; there are no corkage fees, no restrictions, and no additional charges. Self-catering is welcomed, and there’s an outdoor pizza oven if you’d like to make your own. Wonderland can also recommend trusted local suppliers if you prefer to hire someone.
Brighton is just 20 minutes away, with London an hour by road or rail. Wonderland is easily accessible yet feels worlds apart once you arrive.
An absolutely incredible weekend at this beautiful house. Katherine was great at communication, answering questions very quickly and giving us lots of advice on fun things to do in the local area. Would recommend!
This place really was WONDERLAND.
Sensational venue! Guests were just blown away by the scenery, accommodation and party barn. It absolutely has the ‘wow factor’! Thank you so much, Katherine, the host, for a spectacular weekend.
We booked Wonderland for 20 guests, and it was perfect! We were blown away the moment we arrived – the stunning location and the uniqueness of each room, especially the Party Barn.
We made use of what was on offer and enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. We were so fortunate that the weather Gods had blessed us with the sun over the weekend, so we mainly used the outdoor bar/seating area until we headed indoors for dinner.
We had a chef to cook for us, and we all fit in the dining area with an extra table extension. There were enough chairs, cutlery and crockery for us all, too, so it was ideal for large groups. Everyone had a good night’s sleep, and I enjoyed listening to the wildlife and watching the stars after dark down by the lake.
Very peaceful, with lovely local pubs and walks nearby (I highly recommend The Wheatsheaf Pub’s Sunday lunch). Katherine was super responsive to our many questions in the lead-up. Highly recommend 5*
Pictures (and probably words) do not do this place justice—a must-see spot designed by a talented artist.
This has got to be one of the best places I have ever stayed in! Shhhh, maybe I don’t want to share the love! Hehehe. It was that good!
It’s the sort of place you want to return to, and hope it’s not fully booked. It’s a beautiful sanctuary with lots of beautiful spaces to rest your head, watch the stars, or look across the lake. It has a variety of accommodations as well as a party room.
Katherine has put thoughtful touches throughout the place, making it aesthetically interesting with lovely furniture and other touches.
From 2pm on Friday to noon on Sunday.
There are wet weather tents to put up over the ceremony area should this happen (at a small additional cost).
Sadly not, but we can accommodate 5 x bell tents on the front field for up to 4 people per tent.
Not much! The food and drink: You are welcome to bring your own at no extra charge (or we have catering recommendations), the flowers (again, we have contacts), an evening DJ if you'd like one (we know a few!) and any hair/ make-up you'll need.
No, we like to keep things simple and relaxed, feel free to bring your own food, drinks, flowers and anything else you'd like- we will never tell you which wedding suppliers you should use, or charge you for doing things the way you want
Not at all. Feel free to bring all the food you like.
We do have a pizza oven and can provide dough and toppings for you and your guests to make your own if you'd like, please ask us for up to date pricing on ingredients.
The marquee (by our sister company The Pearl Tent Company or The Arabian Tent Company) is included in the hire of Wonderland with tables and chairs for your guests, it can be set up how you like it and will perfectly accommodate 120 guests for dining
No the sound system, dance floor, lighting and bar are all included in the party barn, as is all the eccentric and fun festival style decor within it. You must come and have a look around and see for yourself... There's even a secret entrance through a wardrobe just like Narnia :)
