The Setting
West Horsley Place is set within a 380-acre estate and is approached by a long, tree-lined drive. The estate combines a wide variety of arable fields, ley pastures, pockets of grassland and woodlands. Surrounding the manor house is an ancient orchard, parkland trees, and five acres of formal, walled gardens.
The Vibe
The Manor house, left untouched for a century, still retains many original features – the glorious flagstone floor in the stone hall, gorgeous shutters in all the rooms, fireplaces waiting to be lit. These formal reception rooms have been sensitively refurbished, with new heating and lighting and luxurious new award-winning lavatories! The Duchess’ bedroom on the first floor has become an elegant changing room with the best views over the garden.
They have also opened a stunning new venue, licenced for weddings and events, in the 19th-century Place Farm Barn. With its polished concrete floor and vaulted ceiling, the barn offers a contemporary space, quite different from the manor house but equally stunning.
