Thorpe Garden is set within 3,000 acres of private estate in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside.
Concealed within the estate is a two-acre walled garden with a rich history. Once cultivated to grow produce for the estate (owned by the Inge Family since 1631), in the 80s, it became an organic garden, selling its wares to London restaurants. It has now been restored to its former glory, abundant in flowers and trees.
The Ceremony Room is a striking new addition to the garden, designed by RIBA award-winning architect Seth Stein. The building features a large sloping roof which floats over the listed Victorian wall, with glass doors opening onto a large terrace and the garden beyond.
The hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind yurt boasts steamed mountain ash supports, solid oak doors, and large windows that frame beautiful views of the walled garden. Fairy lights, flowers and festoons create the atmosphere for an intimate dinner and drinks. After dinner, this room is transformed into a spectacular dance floor.
The original gardener’s bothy cottage has also been sympathetically restored and can be used as the Bride’s Room.
The team at Thorpe Garden pride themselves on their feasts and use the finest produce. A team of highly qualified chefs cook fresh, quality ingredients on our tailor-made grill and rotisseries. They present simple, memorable dishes from canapés to whole barbecued lamb, their signature beef sirloin bricks and smoky chargrilled vegetables.
Helping you plan and organise your day is a key part of what they do. They will support you throughout the planning process and be there on the day to ensure everything goes smoothly. Their guests are always impressed with the level of service they receive from their on-site teams.
From our first meeting with the team at Thorpe, we were made to feel really special, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. During the planning Tom and Jennie were so reassuring, patient and in constant contact with us so we never felt worried. On the day of the wedding, everything was perfect and ran so smoothly. The food was the best wedding food we have ever had, the concept of sharing platters down the table went down a treat and encouraged guests to chat a lot more. People have not stopped talking about the food! The yurt looked beautiful, and the sun even came out to play. We honestly could not have asked for any more!
The Thorpe team were always so patient and understanding during our visits and we were very grateful for their expert guidance on all matters which made us feel that you were part of our family and catered for our every whim. We have had many comments from our guests about the delicious food and quality of the wines. Your catering staff were a delight. During the day and evening you were always on hand to ensure smooth running as well as personally looking after the happy couple. We will never forget you all and wish you every success at this amazing venue.
The venue is so beautiful with the greatest attention to the finest details – especially at night with all of the fairy and pontoon lights. The service was great and we had so many compliments on how great the food was. We went for the rotisserie steak and everybody absolutely raved about it! The whole wedding preparation process was so easy because Tom & Jennie are so helpful and the venue comes with a list of trusted suppliers who also did not disappoint. From set-up on the day to collecting everything back in at the end of the evening, we really had to do very little as it was all taken care of. The perfect wedding for us and we wish we could do it all over again.
