The Setting

The Woodyard is a beautiful new wedding and events venue situated within the historic Worstead Estate.

Ensconced in the North Norfolk countryside, the 16th Century Worstead Park forms the centrepiece of the estate, whilst the wider 2000-acre estate includes a working farm run by the Paterson family since the 1930s. The farm is carefully managed to provide a home for nature as well as to create a number of local products including Norfolk’s first Wagyu beef herd, ethically reared using sustainable farming methods.

The Vibe

Once upon a time a sawmill, The Woodyard, which includes a thatched barn and the surrounding outbuildings, has been lovingly restored with modern amenities fit to cater your every need whilst keeping true to the history of the building.

For couples who would like to get married at the Woodyard, the bright and airy Mulberry Room is ideal for ceremonies. With high ceilings and plenty of natural light, the room provides a romantic backdrop for you to exchange your vows surrounded by your nearest and dearest. The Woodyard at Worstead Estate is fully licensed for marriage ceremonies and partnerships. Alternately, couples exchange vows in the beautiful thatched barn. The cosy space can be dressed up with drapes, twinkling fairy lights and indoor trees to create a completely different look or feel in comparison to the Mulberry Room.

Following your ceremony, guests can venture on to the sun-kissed terrace for an alfresco cocktail hour with stunning views of the country estate. Couples can explore the many picturesque photo spots within the grounds, including Lake Island, and the dramatic lime-tree boulevard. In the event of inclement weather, newlyweds and their guests can easily move through to the Main Barn without the need to venture outside.

Dinner will be served in the Main Barn, a rustic yet sophisticated dining room that will take your breath away with its vaulted ceiling, exposed timber, red-brick walls and magnificent chandeliers. 20-110 guests can be comfortably seated for dinner. The stylish space can be decorated as you like, be it with lanterns and candles for a romantic feel or with twinkling fairy lights from above – the space is yours to create your dream setting.

After dinner, guests can move on to the terrace to take in the sunset and views of some of the original 16th century features of the country estate including the 400-year-old mulberry bush and the authentic icehouse once used to store fresh fish over the summer months. Wander down to the lakeside for sundowners before heading back up to the Woodyard for music, dancing and cake.
