Surrounding the historic 10th century medieval village of Worstead, Worstead Estate is a beautiful country retreat perfect for weddings, country pursuits or to simply re-connect with friends and loved ones.
Ensconced in the North Norfolk Countryside, the 16th century Worstead Park forms the centrepiece of the estate while the wider 2,000-acre estate includes a working farm run by the Paterson family since the 1930’s. The farm is carefully managed in order to provide a home for nature as well as create a number of local products including Norfolk’s first Wagyu beef herd, ethically reared using sustainable farming methods.
The Woodyard, which includes a thatched barn and surrounding outbuildings, has been loving restored and beautifully renovated with modern amenities fit to cater to a wedding party’s every need, whilst still keeping true to the history of the building. The venue provides an industrial, rustic and chic feel that couples are able to customise with their own decor and flowers. As guests arrive at The Woodyard into the Easterly courtyard, they can take in the picturesque locally listed building complete with original period features from its time as a working sawmill. What’s more, guests will be able to mingle and sip on a glass of champagne whilst watching the chef preparing the wedding breakfast.
The South wing hosts the Ceremony Room; once a space that housed the sawmill that shaped the very timbers that make up the rafters of the room. It is now a light and airy blank canvas, perfect for any bride or groom to turn it into their own special space. A charming spot to say your vows, Worstead Park is fully licensed for marriage ceremonies.
Following the ceremony, the newly married couple and their guests can easily move through to the Main Barn without the need to venture outside should the weather be inclement. The vaulted ceiling and exposed timbers of this traditional Norfolk thatched barn will take your breath away, filled with natural light and giving the feeling of space. The barn comfortably hosts up to 110 guests for the wedding breakfast, with the bar centrally located directly off the space.
As the sun passes over the yard guests can move out onto the patio in view of some of the original 16th century features of the park – a 400-year-old mulberry bush and an authentic icehouse once used to store fresh fish over the summer months. The decking to the South provides the perfect sun trap from which guests can wander down to the lakeside or enjoy the walled garden. Later in the evening, the Lake Island provides the perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner or two.
Yes, there are three Georgian self catering cottages for guests to stay at on the property.
Worstead Park has a preferred supplier list available for any wedding party. The site has a fully licensed bar which is accessible the whole day through – from when guests arrive in the westerly courtyard to the last sip of the night. Alternatively, corkage is available from £5.00 per bottle wine / £10 per bottle of sparkling / champagne.
For those who want a bigger party Worstead Park is the ideal spot for hosting marquee weddings. The sun trap in front of the icehouse can host up to 250 guests with a large marquee. Guests can then enjoy live music and a full bar in The Woodyard.
Worstead Estate is pet friendly, meaning you can have your favourite four-legged friend with you on your wedding day. There is space for 50 cars, plus disabled parking. There are high quality sound systems in both ceremony room and main barn. Projector and screen available. We have 20 preferred suppliers including photographers, caterers, marquee hire and more.
