Set just moments from the energy of Oxford Street, The Wallace Collection feels quietly set apart from the city around it. Positioned on Manchester Square, the museum brings together grand architecture and one of the country’s most significant private art collections. Inside, a sequence of richly detailed galleries unfolds, each layered with paintings, sculpture, furniture, and porcelain.
As a wedding setting, the atmosphere is defined by contrast: the hum of central London outside, and a sense of stillness within. From the sweeping staircase to the ornate interiors, every space carries a sense of history, offering a backdrop that feels both refined and deeply characterful.
The venue is licensed for legal wedding ceremonies, including in the spectacular Great Gallery for up to 200 guests, or within the glass-covered Courtyard for up to 250.
Other nearby options for the legal ceremony include Old Marylebone Town Hall, a 15-minute walk away, which accommodates up to 100 guests. St James Church also sits just behind the museum, offering a traditional setting within easy reach.
This flexibility allows you to shape the day to suit you, bringing guests together at the Collection for an evening celebration that flows naturally.
Evenings at The Wallace Collection begin with drinks in the first-floor Drawing Room Suite. Guests arrive via the grand staircase and step into a series of five interconnecting galleries, where silk-lined walls and historic works of art create a striking setting for conversation and celebration. A museum guide can be arranged to share the stories behind the collection, adding a thoughtful layer to the experience.
After drinks and canapés, the celebration moves to your chosen dining space. The Great Gallery offers dinner surrounded by masterpieces from artists including Rembrandt, Titian, and Canaletto, while the glazed Courtyard provides a more open setting beneath its high glass roof. As the evening unfolds, the Courtyard lends itself particularly well to dancing and larger gatherings, with space for live music and a lively close to the night. Exclusive hire runs until midnight, with the option to extend.
While the venue itself does not offer on-site accommodation, its central location places a wide range of options within easy reach. Marylebone is known for its mix of boutique hotels and well-established favourites, many within a ten-minute walk of the museum.
The Collection has partnered with four nearby hotels, offering preferential rates for wedding guests, and the Events Team can connect you directly. Whether guests are staying for the night or the full weekend, the surrounding area offers a comfortable, well-connected base.
As a dry hire venue, The Wallace Collection offers flexibility when it comes to catering and styling your celebration. Food and drink are provided through a carefully selected list of accredited suppliers, each chosen for their experience working within the space.
Pre-dinner drinks in the galleries are limited to clear beverages, such as sparkling and white wine, alongside single-bite canapés, to ensure the artworks remain protected. Dinner service, whether in the Great Gallery or Courtyard, can then take on a more expansive format, shaped around your preferences and guest experience.
Balancing the care of a historic collection with environmental responsibility is an ongoing focus for The Wallace Collection. Measures such as solar panels, LED lighting, and upgraded climate systems help reduce the building’s environmental impact while maintaining stable conditions for the artworks.
Sustainability extends to its network of suppliers, many of whom hold B Corp status and prioritise seasonal, locally sourced produce. Florists often partner with Floral Angels, a London-based charity that redistributes flowers after events to community groups.
Set within Marylebone, the venue is surrounded by independent boutiques, cafés, and restaurants that lend themselves well to a wedding weekend. Marylebone Village is just a short walk away, offering a mix of well-known names and smaller, design-led spaces.
Its central location also puts you within easy reach of some of London’s most recognisable streets and landmarks, making it easy for guests to explore the city between celebrations.
The Wallace Collection is well connected by public transport. Nearby Underground stations include Bond Street (7 minutes), Marble Arch (10 minutes), Oxford Circus (12 minutes), and Baker Street (13 minutes), offering access across the Central, Jubilee, Elizabeth, Bakerloo, Victoria, and Metropolitan lines.
Marylebone and Paddington rail stations are both within walking distance, making travel straightforward for guests arriving from across the UK. Numerous bus routes also serve the surrounding area.
For arrivals, the venue’s horseshoe driveway allows for a considered entrance by car, while larger guest transport can stop just outside the gates. There is no on-site parking, though nearby public car parks and metered street parking are available, along with Blue Badge bays on surrounding streets.
As a National Museum open daily until 5pm, the earliest guest arrival is 6.30pm. This allows our accredited suppliers enough time to transform the space for your wedding.
The Wallace Collection is renowned for the open nature of its Collection. Whilst this allows a unique guest experience, it means we have to be careful about the ratio of children to adults at events. We recommend a maximum of 10 children at weddings and ask that they are accompanied at all times by an adult. It is possible to set up a creche area for children away from the main event space.
Yes, we can offer a small private area for couples to change into their second outfits on the night.
Whilst having a wedding planner is not compulsory at the Wallace Collection, a planner can be hugely beneficial when working in a historical, grade-listed building such as ours. A wedding planner would assist with securing and advising on suppliers (production, floristry, photography, entertainment, stationery, etc.) as well as delivering on-the-day management, supplier management, guest lists, invites, stationery and overall styling. The Wallace Collection can provide a list of recommended planners who understand how to host exceptional weddings within a historical setting.
The venue hire fee covers guest arrival from 6.30pm with carriages at midnight. You will have exclusive use of the Wallace Collection, a Venue Manager on the evening, gallery staff, cleaning and full security.
Food and drink, sound and lighting, floristry and entertainment are additional costs and are provided by our accredited suppliers. We recommend budgeting upwards of £55,000 + VAT for this.
As standard, a Wallace Collection wedding goes until midnight with service ending half an hour before guest departure. We have a limited number of 1am extensions per year, subject to availability.
The Wallace Collection has a handpicked list of accredited suppliers for catering, floristry, production and entertainment. All accredited suppliers know the venue extremely well and can provide you with a bespoke quote tailored to your vision for your special day.
