We already knew that The Mowbray was at the top of our list just from following on Instagram and seeing how beautiful it was for weddings and events, but we fell in love from the moment we walked through the doors at their open house in January 2024. There was just something about the space—the atmosphere, the style, the warmth—that instantly made us feel it was the perfect place for our wedding celebrations.

From that moment on, the entire planning process was smooth and stress-free. The staff were absolutely brilliant; dedicated and always happy to help. They really listened to what we wanted and made everything feel so easy and seamless.

A special mention has to go to the food; it was genuinely incredible. Every single guest commented on how delicious everything was, from the starters to the late-night snacks. We can’t wait to come back for the roasts and supper clubs to continue our love affair with The Mowbray.

Thanks again, we had the absolute time of our lives.

From a couple working in the events industry, we can’t thank the team at The Mowbray enough for the seamless wedding day they gave us. After all the planning, all you can hope for on the day is for everything to run smoothly. The entire team is professional and experienced and worked hard to make everything perfect. We floated through our day so relaxed we enjoyed every moment together without concern.

The beauty of The Mowbray made a real impact on our guests; the venue is so stylish and stunning. We only added a few key personalised pieces, and our vision came alive.

At the heart of the day was the food. Every course, down to the cheese and crackers, was so fresh and delicious. The sharing platters are social and had all our guests talking and digging in together. It gave us so much joy to be surrounded by friends and family, sharing one of our greatest joys in life: great food and wine!

Until the final song, the team were on hand for anything we needed. It was the best day of our lives. We only wish we could do it all again!

We honestly had a perfect day; when people say it’s the best day of your life, I thought they were exaggerating, but it was! Everything at The Mowbray from start to finish was amazing, from the open house to look at The Mowbray to the day itself. Lucy was ready to answer all our questions and made planning much easier.

On the day, everything was taken care of, and the staff were incredible; we hardly noticed them, but they were right there when you needed them. We even had a couple of wedding crashers, and the team dealt with them seamlessly. All our guests have said it was the best wedding food ever! Thank you!

We had the most wonderful time with you – our wedding truly was the most magical day, and that was so much down to how cleverly and kindly you worked with us before and during the ceremony. Our guests were full of praise for the venue and the staff, and the best compliment we can give is how relaxed we felt. Many guests commented on it being the best wedding food they’ve ever had, and a few said they’ve never been to a wedding with such brilliant non-alcoholic drinks (and one commented they’d never seen the non-alcoholic drinks run out before the alcoholic ones!).

From our first meeting to the day itself, you’ve been 100% attentive, sensitive and easy to work with – we can’t thank you enough. Even the little touches, like how you presented the doughnuts and changed the toilet signs, meant so much to us.

Special thanks to the whole team on the day, particularly Georgina and Emma, who were brilliant.

Our Mowbray story is more magical than your usual: Our original venue had closed unexpectedly with just five months until our big day, so you can imagine how excited we were to hear The Mowbray had our date available and that it was the only Saturday free all summer. I remember going to look around with Georgie (Marnie, who did our stationery, too; she’s amazing) and bursting into happy tears because of how incredible the venue was. There were whispers of ‘this was meant to be’, which felt right.

From those first days of planning over Zoom with the wonderful Lucy right through to our wedding day itself, everything was just perfect. Quite literally, perfect. And how often can you say that? The team is made up of consummate professionals who not only run a tight ship but anticipate needs and go above expectations. On the day, it was noted that they effectively balanced the perfect organisation of the event by creating a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere. By the time the big day arrived, I’d seen and interacted with Emma so much that when we looked back, I felt she was a key part of our day. Having her there was a massive comfort; that’s what The Mowbray staff are – comfort. We were able to relax knowing everything was in very capable hands.

Ben and I are so happy that The Mowbray is part of our story and that we have incredible memories of our wedding day celebrating in such an amazing venue. We feel so lucky that we will be able to visit for years to come and reminisce about the best day of our lives.

Ultimately, with how happy our guests were, how wonderful the food was, and how perfectly the day went, it’s hard to ignore the notion that our wedding at The Mowbray was meant to be.

With the atmospheric setting and feel of the Mowbray, we knew as soon as we walked in that we weren’t going to need to look anywhere else.

The entire planning process with the team was easy. Lucy and Emma made us feel at ease and were so attentive, and of course, ridiculously competent. By the time the big day rolled around, we had no concerns at all. Everything was absolutely taken care of. Something which made a huge difference and made the planning so smooth is the fact that so much is taken care of in-house; this takes off the added pressure of coordinating all the elements or vendors leading up to the day.

From the moment we each arrived, all our nerves completely disappeared, and all we felt was excitement and love. This was the theme of the entire day for our family, us, and our loved ones.

That we could just purely enjoy the day and all the wonderful craziness a wedding brings with it (it all goes so fast) is a massive testament to the team. It was so seamless. We’ve heard from so many of the guests that it was one of the best days of their lives, the best wedding food they’ve had, the best experience at a wedding. We, of course, echo the sentiment!

I have to do a special shout-out to the chefs and the kitchen. We had a few dietary requirements, and one of my family members is very restricted in what he can eat. The kitchen worked wonders, and he said it’s the best meal he’s eaten in years, and he was so touched at how much care they put in for one person. I think this shows the ethos of the team more than anything. They want everyone to have a special day.

Oh, and the homemade focaccia and baked cheesecake for dessert, just glorious.

Married September 2025

What an amazing day we had!

Jon and I had a vision of our wedding: informal, industrial/rustic, but still very romantic, and The Mowbray nailed it. We first came across The Mowbray when we attended an Up on the Roof event years ago and knew instantly that we wanted our wedding there (before we were even engaged, I might add).

All the staff were amazing both during the wedding run-up and on the day itself. Lucy, Emma and Georgina genuinely couldn’t do enough for us and thought about even the smallest details and the food…! Several guests came to tell us that the bread/chicken/potatoes were the best they’d ever tasted. My brother even went so far as to contact The Mowbray afterwards for the recipe.

If we could do it all again, we wouldn’t change a thing.

We just want to say that it was an absolutely perfect day. Everything was spot on; we couldn’t have been happier with how things were.

The food was unreal; everyone commented on how good it was. Some say it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We certainly thought so. And all of the guys helping on the day were so helpful. Other than getting asked if we wanted a drink, I don’t think we got involved in anything.

The place looks beautiful and just as we hoped for.

A reception at the Mowbray had always been our ‘if we get married one day, that would be the dream’ plan – and years later, it turned out to be just as incredible as we thought it would be!

With pretty much everything being taken care of within the hire, including beautiful venue styling, we had a really relaxed and enjoyable experience planning the wedding, knowing we just had the fun little extra bits to do like confetti and favours. Lucy and the team helped us to make the day really personalised, crafting us a fully vegetarian feasting menu, creating homemade limoncello shots for toasting and ordering in a crate of our favourite beer cans from a local brewery.

On the day, we were looked after amazingly by the bar and waiting staff at the Mowbray – our coordinator on the day was especially great, making sure we were just focused on having a great time. So many guests commented on how amazing the food was, how beautiful the venues were and how ‘us’ the whole day felt. It was everything we wanted the day to be and more.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding venue than The Mowbray. From the very beginning, the team were incredibly supportive, making the entire process feel seamless and as stress-free as planning a wedding can be! No request ever felt like too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just right.

Our day was filled with so much love and joy, and all of our guests commented on what a beautiful and special atmosphere the venues created. The food was an absolute highlight – honestly, the biggest hit of the day! People are still talking about how amazing it was!

What really stood out to us was the care and attention from the staff. Every member of the team made sure everything ran smoothly, and their warmth and professionalism didn’t go unnoticed by our guests. An absolute dream team! We’re so grateful for everything they did to make our day unforgettable.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you, Lucy, Lucy and the rest of the team at the Mowbray for all of your help and hard work for our wedding day. You made everything so much easier and less stressful.

We loved every minute of it, and we had the best day celebrating. It was everything we wanted the day to be, and it was just so us. We keep looking at the photos constantly!

We are big foodies, so this was a big part of our wedding for us, and it really exceeded our expectations (we can’t stop thinking about that pav!). So many of our guests commented on how amazing the food was (and the whole day in general!).

Married November 2025

Our wedding day was the best day of our lives! We have nothing but praise for The Mowbray.

From the moment we got in touch, it was all straightforward to organise. Lucy was so accommodating and quick to respond to our emails.

On the day, the staff were super friendly and attentive – many of our guests commented on how lovely everyone was! Georgina ensured everything ran smoothly, leaving us to enjoy the party.

Although we booked the venue before trying the food, attending a supper club event confirmed we’d made the right choice. The food blew our guests away; many told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever eaten. We would agree, although we still can’t agree on our favourite dish from the day!

The room looked stunning and had been coordinated perfectly with our colour scheme. All the little details were perfect – from the flowers on the table to the beautiful presentation of the arrival drinks, not to mention the hearty mugs of tea and coffee after dinner!

Everything was perfect, and we can’t thank you enough!

Johnny and I met in 2015 after a “super like” on Tinder – he lived in Wakefield, myself in Sheffield, and Kelham Island was the backdrop to the early years of our relationship.

After getting engaged in November 2024, we had no real plan for when we’d get married, until it clicked that December 2025 would mark our ten years together. That felt like an occasion worth celebrating properly, and from that point on, the planning went full steam ahead.

When I downloaded a wedding planning app, I realised The Mowbray was already saved in my favourites – clearly the result of some wishful thinking from years earlier! When we discovered they had availability on our ten-year anniversary, the decision was easy, and we booked without even viewing.

At the Winter Love Open House in January, everything started to fall into place. I’d somehow become obsessed with disco balls during planning, and when we met Mirlah, our photographer, she handed us her business card – complete with a tiny disco ball attached. We took that as a sign and booked her that same evening. Mirlah photographed our day exactly how we’d imagined and hoped for – candid, fun and capturing everyone in the moment.

We also met Cat from Betty’s Flower Club, who created the most beautiful winter florals for our day. I’ve never been particularly into flowers, but a real Christmas wreath is our annual tradition, so Cat incorporated fir, berries and pinecones to give the bouquets that same festive, wreath-like feel.

Most of all, we wanted our wedding day to represent everything we love – lots of colour, things to be slightly mismatched with mid-century nods and, most importantly, for everyone to have the most fun possible. The Mowbray was the perfect setting for this, both full of personality and warmth. Our bridesmaids, bridesman and groomsmen chose their own outfits, with the only brief being to feel comfortable and themselves. Somehow, this worked better than any planning ever could have, with the bridal party perfectly picking up the colours in the bouquets (I had no idea what these would look like until Cat delivered them on the morning!) and both groups complemented each other so well, without any intentional coordination.

In the evening, we were lucky enough to book the most wonderful Motown and soul band, Manhattan, who truly were the cherry on top of an already perfect day. It was the first time they’d played at The Mowbray, and the team were incredibly supportive in making sure they had everything they needed – a theme that Lucy, Emma and the rest of the team across both venues carried throughout our entire planning process.

The relaxed, cosy atmosphere of The Mowbray was exactly what we had envisioned for our wedding day. Combined with the most delicious food and drinks, the biggest Christmas tree, and the warmest, friendliest and most supportive team, we genuinely couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Married December 2025

It’s difficult to know where to begin with describing our experience at The Mowbray, when it was everything we could have hoped for and more. We knew from the moment we stepped into the venues that our minds had been made up – they were the first places we visited, and we didn’t look back.

From start to finish, the team made the whole process of planning a wedding so wonderfully easy, to the point that at times we found ourselves worrying about how little we had to do! No ask was ever too much, and to top it all off, they were all so amazingly friendly and endlessly helpful. Lucy and the team were always on hand to advise, handle my many requests, calm our nerves on the day and ensure that everything ran so very smoothly. The venues themselves were absolutely beautiful (and very cool), and the food! So many of our guests said it was the best they’d ever had at a wedding, and some of the best vegetarian/vegan food they’d had, full stop. It also feels important to mention that one of the chefs on the day took the time to speak to one of our guests with a severe allergy, which was such a lovely touch and very appreciated.

We are so genuinely grateful for our perfect day and how the whole team really did just smash it out of the park – which we had absolutely no doubt they would do. We can’t thank you enough – our only wish is that we could go back and do it all again!

Married August 2025

We recently celebrated our wedding at The Mowbray, and we instantly fell in love with the venue. The lighting, decor, and overall ambience created the perfect backdrop for our special day.

We hosted a rooftop drinks reception at The Mowbray, where we greeted our guests with live music, fizz, and punch bowls. For the meal, we chose The Summer Laden Table, which was a huge hit with everyone. We heard “best wedding food we’ve ever had” more times than we can count!

The team was incredible from the moment we booked until the very end of our celebration. We worked closely with Lucy, who regularly checked in with us and guided us through the complex process of planning our schedules, reminding us of important details we might have missed.

We can’t recommend these venues highly enough—our day was flawless from beginning to end!

Married January 2025

People always say getting married is the best day of your life, and for Kendal and me, it was!! The Mowbray was just incredible; right from when we first went to look at the venues, we knew it was the place for us. Lucy and her team were accommodating and cared for everything for us. They were able to recommend a fantastic DJ and florist and made the whole wedding planning process easy for us! They were open to any personal touches we wanted to include on the day, making it feel even more special and unique.

The day was so much fun, and all our guests commented on how relaxed and comfortable it felt. The team of bar staff/front of house was just fantastic and made everyone feel welcome. The food was just out of this world!! So many people said it was the best wedding food they’d ever had.

We can’t thank everyone at The Mowbray enough and have been recommending them to all our mates. Thanks so much for everything; hopefully, I’ll see you at a supper club or something soon.

We had visited The Mowbray before, but attended a wedding open day in September 2023 after getting engaged in May. From then on, we knew it was the venue for us – it was perfect. We didn’t even feel the need to look elsewhere, and soon enough, it was booked!

From start to finish, the team were absolutely incredible. Their support and professionalism were flawless, and they helped make our day truly perfect.

Communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. No matter how many emails I sent (and there were a lot!), the team were always quick to respond, kind, and ready to help with anything we needed.

Following the ceremony, we made our way to The Mowbray, where we were greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of punch. The food was honestly amazing. So many of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they had ever tasted. We absolutely loved the idea of sharing tables – it was informal and relaxed, which was what we wanted. The summer pavlova was also a highlight for many of our guests.

The floor and bar staff were outstanding. Everyone was both professional and incredibly friendly. Into the evening, everyone had so much fun dancing the night away. With the weather being warm and muggy, having access to the terrace to relax and take a breather was an absolute lifesaver. The team really went above and beyond, ensuring that the evening food was served promptly and that the cake was delivered to guests on the terrace. The evening food and cake were just as delicious as everything else!

So many of our family and friends have commented on the sheer professionalism and dedication of the entire team. Several even said it was the best wedding they’ve ever attended! We truly can’t thank the team at The Chimney House and The Mowbray enough. You made our wedding dreams come true, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We will never forget our day.

We can’t thank the events team at The Mowbray enough for making our wedding day absolutely perfect. As a couple who are pretty laid-back, we were initially worried about being too disorganised to get everything done. At the same time, we were concerned about being overwhelmed with constant calls and messages. But the team managed to strike the perfect balance—super organised and always happy to help, yet totally chilled out and never pushy.

From the moment we first booked until the last song of the night, they made us feel completely relaxed. The day ran smoother than we could have ever imagined, and we were able to truly enjoy every moment without stress. The entire team, from the events staff to the bar and kitchen staff, were incredible—professional, friendly, and attentive.

We were also really impressed with the styling of the venue. We brought a few small items of our own, and the team knew exactly how to place them to make everything look stunning. The venue looked absolutely beautiful, so naturally, and it was clear that they paid attention to every detail. We received so many compliments on the venue, but even more on the food, which was absolutely delicious.

It was everything we could have hoped for and more. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better team to make our wedding day unforgettable. Thank you!

We were both absolutely blown away by the whole day.

All the staff were excellent and dealt with everything we needed. The food was incredible – I’ll be thinking about the beef and cheesecake for a long time. If the basque cheesecake recipe isn’t top secret, I would love to try and make it again!
