About
Setting

The Happenstance enjoys a prime location in Paternoster Square, in the heart of the City of London. It is surrounded by striking modern architecture alongside the historic grandeur of St Paul’s Cathedral, which provides a dramatic backdrop for weddings and celebrations. The venue has both indoor and outdoor spaces, with views across the square creating a stylish and vibrant atmosphere.

The central location makes it exceptionally well-connected. St Paul’s Underground Station is just a short walk away, while City Thameslink, Blackfriars, and Liverpool Street stations provide easy access for those travelling from further afield. London’s major airports are also within reach, making the venue convenient for international guests.

Choosing this venue means London landmarks, contemporary city life, and a wealth of amenities all on your doorstep, ensuring guests have everything they need.

Ceremony

The Happenstance is licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies, for up to 90 guests, and couples can exchange vows in the chic and modern interior before raising a toast with loved ones on the terrace. The stunning views of St Paul’s Cathedral will provide the perfect backdrop for wedding photos before returning to the restaurant for the wedding reception.

Reception

After your ceremony in the Lounge, your guests will be invited to the terrace for delicious canapés and drinks, where they can enjoy stunning views of St. Paul’s Cathedral. When it’s time for the wedding breakfast, you’ll move to the main restaurant, and after the meal, the fun continues! The Lounge transforms into a lively dance floor, complete with its own bar, access to the terrace, and even an additional restroom for convenience. It’s the perfect space to celebrate the night away until 1am.

Food & Drink

The Happenstance offers a range of services that couples can tailor to meet their needs. A dedicated wedding coordinator will ensure that each event is seamless. Catering is available from a team of executive chefs who will prepare a menu to each couple’s specifications, from canapés to formal three-course wedding breakfasts.

Local Area

The venue benefits from its central position, surrounded by London’s historic and cultural landmarks. Guests can enjoy the views of St Paul’s, explore the River Thames and Millennium Bridge, or take a short stroll to the Tate Modern, the Barbican, and the Museum of London. The local area has an abundance of hotels ranging from luxury five-star stays to boutique options, as well as plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops for guests to enjoy before and after the celebrations.

Getting There

The Happenstance is just a two-minute walk from St Paul’s Underground Station, with City Thameslink and Blackfriars both around ten minutes away. Liverpool Street and King’s Cross St Pancras can be reached in under 15 minutes by Underground, while London City, Heathrow, and Gatwick airports are all accessible within an hour. For those arriving by car, there are several public car parks close to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Thank you SO much for everything in helping plan our wedding – we loved every minute and you were a huge part of it. It all went so well, we still have people telling us how much they loved the party, the venue, the food and the wine!

Gabi, what can I say? You were another level amazing, helping to arrange our wedding. You absolutely know what you are doing, executed the whole day to perfection, and it was epic. Also, you are just lovely. Your staff at the venue were all great, massive thank you!

Amazing wedding experience!

From the first look round to the follow-up after the wedding day, we cannot rate this venue highly enough. The wedding planner Gabriela was first class, great with ideas to guide us, organised, took a lot of the weight off our shoulders when organising our Wedding from Barnsley. The food was delicious and made the event so special; we could also personalise our wedding breakfast from the tasting session.

The staff on the day were just fantastic, offering us great service and making the kids feel welcome, all with a smile. Our guest feedback was that the venue and food were exceptional, many saying it was the best wedding venue they had been to. There was plenty of room for the DJ and dancing ( we were in the lounge). For our wedding of 36, the lounge was perfect, we loved every minute.

The aftercare was brilliant, what a team!

The Dream Wedding Venue.

I cannot say enough things about Drake and Morgan’s The Happenstance. The attention to detail, the communication and the staff at the venue were truly out of this world. Gabi, who is the head of weddings at Drake and Morgan, is what truly made the experience. She has seen so many weddings and has so much passion for helping couples fulfil their vision. Her attention to detail and project management skills were out of this world. She executed everything perfectly.

A big feature of us going with The Happenstance was the extensiveness of the package provided. We wanted to make sure our guests had plenty of food and drinks all night, and they delivered! So many people have complimented how amazing the food and drinks were, saying it was so much better than normal wedding food!

I could not recommend the venue, Gabi and the Drake and Morgan enough!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding day so incredibly special. From all of your support in the months and weeks beforehand, to the day itself, you were amazing. So many of our guests commented on how wonderful the venue was and how they had such a fantastic day. We cannot thank all of the team at The Happenstance enough.
