About
Setting

The Great Tythe Barn is situated in the rural Cotswolds, just a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive from Tetbury. It is surrounded by fields and farmland yet easily accessible by car, bus, or train.

Getting Here

  • From Bristol: Leave on the M32, take the M4 towards London, and exit at Junction 18.
  • From the North: Follow the M5 to exit 13 (Stroud). From Stroud, take the A46 through Nailsworth to Tetbury.
  • By Train: The nearest station is Kemble, near Cirencester. Taxis are available to The Great Tythe Barn.
  • Nearby: Tetbury is about 20 miles from Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham, and Swindon.

The venue blends historic charm with modern comforts, offering ample event spaces, delightful accommodations, and comprehensive wedding packages.

Ceremony

The Barn can host indoor ceremonies for up to 200 guests, and in good weather, an outdoor option is available under the Oak Pavilion.

Reception

Post-ceremony, enjoy a drinks reception on the beautiful lawn or in the Barn’s Gallery. The venue accommodates all weather conditions with various drinks packages and canapés served by trusted catering suppliers.

The barn’s ground floor can accommodate up to 200 dining guests with adaptable seating arrangements. After the meal and speeches, tea and coffee are available, and the well-stocked bar is open to all.

In the evening, The Great Tythe Barn transforms into a spectacular venue for receptions with up to 350 guests. A stage and wooden dance floor provide space for a band or DJ, with evening food served to keep everyone energised!

Accommodation

At the end of the night, guests can stay in various onsite accommodations, sleeping up to 90 people. Options include self-catering cottages, B&B rooms, and the 5-star Tythe House.

What's included in the barn hire?

- The barn is available from 9am until 1am; please contact the office for additional charges.

- Experienced Wedding & Event Coordinators to help you plan your big day.

- Use of our standard 5ft round tables, any tables for a cake, formal top table, etc and chairs*

- Fairy Light Canopy.

- Fully stocked and staffed in-house bar - we accept cash cards, and guests can set up a tab if they wish.

- 2 Cordless microphones.

- PA system for background ceremony/reception music.

- Beautiful drinks reception lawn.

* We have 196 lime-washed Chiavari chairs. Should these not match your style, other chairs may be hired.

** You will need to bring your own or hire games through a supplier.

What are the Terms of Booking?

- A £1000 deposit is required to confirm the booking.

- A further 50% payment six months before the wedding date.

- The remaining barn hire and catering expenses balance is payable three weeks before the wedding date.

- Catering MUST be supplied by one of our catering suppliers.

- All payments are non-refundable, except if cancelled within 14 days of booking and subject to a £100 admin fee.

What's the capacity?

For the wedding breakfast, we can seat a maximum of 200 dining guests. Tables will be spread across every part of the barn on the ground floor. Estcourt alone can seat 80 guests.

We can accommodate up to 350 guests for the evening reception; however, for a reception of over 250 guests, additional bar facilities need to be considered.

Do you have minimum numbers?

We have a minimum of 50 guests on Sundays, 80 guests on Fridays, and a minimum of 100 guests on Saturdays during May - September and after 13th December.

Monday - Thursday and Sunday, outside of peak season, our minimum numbers are 50.

Fridays and Saturdays, January - March and November - 13th December are covered by our Winter Package with minimum numbers of 60.

What time can we access the venue?

Access to the venue is from 9am on the day, but this may be extended subject to availability. The barn venue must be vacated by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Can we hire our own chairs?

Yes. We appreciate that each wedding is unique and has its own style, so you are more than welcome to hire other chairs if you decide ours aren't for you.

Included in the Barn Hire, we have 196 lime washed Chiavari chairs.

Is there a choice of the caterers?

We have fabulous caterers to choose from. For more information, please visit our Caterers page on our website.

Can we bring our own caterers?

Unfortunately, no. We have a selection of excellent caterers who offer a variety of menus to exceed your expectations. The owner has personally selected them for their food and exceptional front-of-house managers.

Do you supply tablecloths, crockery and cutlery?

Our caterers provide table linen, including linen napkins, crockery and cutlery and will dress your tables for the wedding breakfast. They also supply a team of experienced uniformed waiting staff and chefs to serve your guests and a front-of-house manager who will manage and run all catering aspects of your day. The front-of-house manager can act as your toastmaster or assist a party member with making any announcements.

Do you have a fire pit, and is the wood included?

Yes, we have a newly installed firepit for guest use. It costs £140 and includes wood, marshmallows, chocolate biscuits, and BBQ sticks.
