The Forge is a unique and intimate space available to hire for your wedding celebrations. A short walk through Bristol Old Town and up the picturesque Christmas steps, it’s the ideal spot to gather with your most loved people to celebrate your day.
A historic industrial space built in the mid-1800s in central Bristol, the Forge was originally a coach house and then a blacksmith’s shop. It sits high above the old Bristol city centre, accessed via a small back lane just off Colston Street. From here, you can see St. John’s Gate and the old city wall. Although sensitively renovated, the Forge maintains its historic provenance.
It’s a stunning setting for a small city wedding with original brickwork and dramatic views of the Bristol skyline through industrial-style floor-to-ceiling windows. By day, the space is filled with light, and by night, the gentle sound of the city surrounds it. The space feels really special!
The Forge is not currently licensed for wedding ceremonies, though there are several wonderful celebrants who offer beautiful alternatives to a legal ceremony. If you prefer a more relaxed, informal ceremony, a confident friend or family member can also host a small ceremony for you. The Forge team would be happy to provide guidance.
The venue is beautiful, and you are welcome to bring decorations to suit your style. In-house styling is also offered. They have a mix of wooden tables and chairs and would be delighted to decorate the space for you.
Although there is no accommodation on site, being in the heart of the city means there are many hotels and B&Bs to choose from, depending on your style and budget.
Canapés, sharing platters, street food vans or wholesome buffets. The Forge has partnered with a select handful of exceptional South West caterers whose food and expertise are admired.
The bar is fully licensed and stocked with small-batch beers, spirits, bubbles and wines from some of Bristol’s favourite independents. Bubbles on arrival, bespoke cocktails and delicious alcohol-free drinks; let them pour you something special.
They encourage sustainable decoration and working with local suppliers.

This depends on the time of the year and your plans for the rest of the day. A 1.30pm ceremony works well; this means you'll be eating at around 3.30pm and on the dance floor by 6.30pm! When you visit, a bespoke timeline can be created for you.
