With local drink options served from the rustic drinks cart, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of your wedding day in style.
Alternatively, from April 2026, couples can host their drinks reception in the Private Pub. Its warm and cosy atmosphere, complete with roaring open fires, is especially beautiful for winter weddings, adding a sense of snug, rustic charm to your celebrations.
For the wedding breakfast, couples can choose between the intimate Hop Barn and the grand Spring Barn. The Hop Barn, seating up to 70 guests, offers a more intimate setting, perfect for sharing the moment with your nearest and dearest. Food & Drink
At The Ferry House, food and drink are central to the wedding experience. Dishes showcase ingredients from the Kitchen Garden, family farm, and local Harty estate, all crafted by their 2AA Rosette-awarded chefs. Every dish is designed to showcase the best of what Kent offers, making your wedding feast as memorable as the day itself.
Begin your wedding day with a brunch platter, perfect for calming pre-ceremony nerves. Paired with a glass of bubbles, it’s a lovely way to kick off celebrations while getting ready. You can also treat your guests to welcome drinks like Kentish fizz or signature cocktails, which are made using Copper Rivet Distillery spirits from grain grown on the family farm. Add a cookie table for sweet treats to keep everyone smiling before the main event.
During the drinks reception, guests can enjoy a selection of Kentish fizz, wines, beers, or signature cocktails and mocktails made with local spirits, botanicals, and homemade syrups from the Kitchen Garden. For canapés, indulge in seasonal delights that showcase the best of Harty’s local produce, including Harty beef and freshly picked vegetables from the Kitchen Garden.
For the main event, couples can choose between a traditional three-course meal or a more relaxed Kentish hog roast with all the trimmings. No matter your choice, the focus is always on fresh and local ingredients. All full-day packages include half a bottle of wine per guest, with the option to upgrade to Kentish varieties or add some sparkle with local fizz for your speeches. For a personal touch, you can add alcohol favours to your tables, featuring Kentish spirits like those from Copper Rivet Distillery.
As the evening unfolds, keep your guests fueled for the party with build-you-own food options, bowl foods, or grazing tables. Late-night bites can also be added, ensuring no one goes hungry during the celebrations. If you’re looking for a showstopping cake, consider the signature brownie cake, a unique creation with three deconstructed tiers of chocolate brownie topped with different cheesecake-flavoured frostings.
After a night of celebration, gather your nearest and dearest for a buffet breakfast the next morning. It is a delicious way to continue the festivities before saying your goodbyes.
The Ferry House is more than just a wedding venue – it’s a place you can return to. With regular pop-up dining and tasting events, couples are invited to revisit and relive memories or host other special occasions in the beautiful surroundings that make their wedding day unforgettable.
Sustainability
For couples looking to reduce the environmental impact of their wedding, The Ferry House can help! With a deep connection to the surrounding countryside, sustainability is central to the venue’s ethos, benefiting both the land and the couples who marry there.
Having farmed the land for three generations, the team at The Ferry House takes pride in protecting and preserving it. Their Kitchen Garden is key to this approach, providing fresh, seasonal produce year-round. This homegrown harvest is a cornerstone of their wedding menus, ensuring that ingredients are fresh and locally sourced from the garden to the table.
The venue’s commitment to sustainability extends to its food sourcing. It procures salt-marsh-grazed beef and wild game from its family farm and the surrounding Harty estate, keeping food miles low. This reduces the environmental impact and guarantees the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients for couples and their guests.
In addition, The Ferry House is committed to minimising food waste. They use an on-site composter, turning food waste into nutrient-rich soil to support their gardens. As part of their ongoing sustainability efforts, the venue also features a field of solar panels, working toward powering the whole venue sustainably in the near future.
The Ferry House is more than just a venue. It’s a commitment to celebrating your special day with minimal environmental impact. It offers a beautiful, sustainable setting for weddings that not only honor the occasion but also respect and protect the land.
