The Croquet Lawn at Fanhams Hall

Fanhams Hall is a Grade II-listed Jacobean mansion set within 27 acres of Hertfordshire countryside and formal gardens. The grounds move from the structured Rose Gardens to the Wisteria Walk, which blooms each spring, creating varied backdrops for photographs throughout the estate.

At the heart of the outdoor offering, the Croquet Lawn gives couples a generous blank canvas for celebrations of up to 300 guests. Available through exclusive-use dry hire, it combines the freedom of an outdoor celebration with access to the house, gardens and parking. Fanhams Hall forms part of the family-owned Exclusive Collection.

Several ceremony settings are available across the estate. The original Grade II-listed Japanese Teahouse, traditionally known as ‘The House of the Pure Heart’, sits within the gardens and can welcome up to 300 guests for vows or a blessing.

Couples planning an outdoor celebration can also use the Croquet Lawn, with space for up to 300 guests beneath open skies. The Gazebo Lawn provides another setting for outdoor ceremonies and blessings.

The Croquet Lawn offers space for receptions of up to 300 guests, with the flexibility to tailor the celebration to each couple’s plans. Fanhams Hall works with Country Tipis and Alternative Stretch Tents, giving couples an outdoor alternative to the venue’s indoor reception spaces, which can seat up to 130 guests.

Dry hire includes use of the land, access to the gardens and parking for guests. Celebrations on the Croquet Lawn can continue until 11pm, after which guests can move into the Great Hall and carry on until 1am. Exclusive use begins at 12pm on the wedding day and finishes at 1am.

Guests can stay in the main house or the courtyard rooms, each with its own character. Check-in is from 2pm, with check-out by 11am.

The lounge, bar, and atrium provide comfortable places for guests arriving early or staying on after check-out.

Dry hire gives couples the freedom to choose their own food and drink team, so the menu and service can reflect the day’s plans. Chosen caterers simply need to provide the required insurance documentation to meet Fanhams Hall’s venue requirements.
