The Castle Westenhanger

The Castle Westenhanger is a historic wedding venue set within the Kent countryside, where medieval ruins and open lawns create a striking backdrop for a day of exclusive celebration. The castle grounds and manor house frame events with character and architectural detail, providing space for guests to gather both outdoors and within centuries-old walls.

Throughout the day, the lawn, ruins, and manor house offer a variety of settings for photographs and time with friends and family, all within a private area reserved solely for the couple and their guests.

Couples can choose between indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, each seating up to 120 guests. On the lawn, a thatched oak-framed gazebo stands among the castle ruins, offering an open-air setting surrounded by historic stonework.

Indoors, the former banqueting hall provides a medieval backdrop with exposed beams, brickwork and period windows. A fire pit adds warmth and atmosphere, creating an intimate setting while still accommodating a full guest list.

After the ceremony, drinks receptions unfold on the castle lawn, where guests can relax, play games and enjoy refreshments with views of the manor house and ruins. A hidden bar within the castle’s historic turret offers an additional space for guests to explore.

Receptions continue in the marquee overlooking the lawn, where dining, speeches and evening celebrations take place. An adjoining bar keeps everything in one area, and an in-house DJ is included in the package so the dance floor continues into the night.

While there is no on-site overnight accommodation, the venue provides a curated list of nearby hotels, holiday homes, and trusted taxi services for couples and guests. Preferred local accommodation partners can offer discounted rates, helping guests stay close to the celebrations.

On the day itself, two dedicated dressing areas in the manor house allow both partners to prepare on site while remaining separate. The Elizabeth Suite and the Discovery Room have been recently renovated to provide comfortable, photo-ready spaces for the wedding morning.

Catering is provided in-house, with menus designed to cover both formal dining and more relaxed evening options. Couples can choose from a wide selection of dishes for a three-course wedding breakfast, as well as buffet and barbecue-style menus for later in the day. Canapés can also be arranged for the drinks reception.

Fully stocked bars serve beers, spirits and a considered range of wines. Couples are invited to attend Inspiration Days to sample and select their preferred wines, allowing them to shape the drinks offering to suit their celebration. Optional extras, such as a prosecco bike, can also be arranged.

The Castle Westenhanger offers ample free parking in the customer car park, with access available from 9am on the wedding morning and collection required by 11am the following day. Clear signage directs guests on arrival.

For those travelling by rail, Westenhanger Station is just a short walk from the venue, providing convenient public transport links.
