About

The Setting

Situated on the beautiful Northumberland coast with the opportunity to incorporate both the beach and the barn into your day. The Barn on the Bay has some amazing settings to select from – opt for a private beachside ceremony space or the paddock and yard for your outdoor drinks reception. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a vintage tractor ride to your seaside ceremony and let your guests have some fun along the way.

The local town of Amble is just a few miles away with additional accommodation, and Morpeth train station is a twenty minute drive for guest commuting via rail links.

The team are always happy to help with any travel related questions you or your guests have.

The Vibe

The beach at Druridge Bay is the jewel in The Barn on The Bay’s wedding crown. Located on a coastal farm, they’re lucky enough to own one mile of private dunes which are available for wedding couples to use for their ceremony, drinks receptions overlooking the bay, camping, and glamping.

When couples walk through the dunes and along the beach path to the private beachside ceremony area they often let out a little gasp – a reaction the team are very used to. They also hear the same little gasps from wedding guests as they walk, or take a tractor ride to the coastal wedding ceremony; the setting really is that magnificent.

When the celebrations by the sea have finished guests are welcomed back to the farm for drinks on the verandah from their Old Dog & Duck vintage horse box bar. Wedding Breakfasts take place in the spacious Cowshed Wedding Barn, but this is no ordinary cowshed. A lot of effort has gone into creating a rustic luxe feel, including the beautiful neutral decor and palette, allowing couples to put their own stamp on the space for their big day.

With spaces for dining, drinking and dancing available inside the Barn, there is a fully stocked main bar as well as another quirky horse box cocktail bar. Sit back and relax on their leather chairs and sofa before hitting the dance floor or gathering around an indoor fire table. This all takes place under one roof so couples are able to mingle freely and there isn’t the issue of losing guests in separate reception rooms.

For 2023 weddings The Barn at the Bay will be introducing wedding catering options. They offer local, honest, ethical and sustainable food as either a sit down family sharing menu designed by a local chef, or an American style pitmaster smoked BBQ. All tasty and of the highest quality.

At the end of the night guests have to walk just a few steps to reach their adult-sized rustic bunks in Calico Barn (their purpose built group accommodation), head over to the dunes for camping and the glamping pods, or take a minutes’ walk to Poppy Cottage which where the wedding couple usually stay.

Wake up the next day to a lazy breakfast in the nearby cafe, or for the brave a bracing dip in the sea!
