The Barn on the Bay sits right on the Northumberland coast, where you can make the most of both the beach and the farm. It’s a rare setup. One mile of private dunes and a sweeping view across Druridge Bay.
There’s something pretty special about arriving at your ceremony on a vintage tractor or walking the winding path through the sand. Either way, you’ll reach a quiet spot by the sea that takes your breath a little. Later on, guests gather back at the farm for drinks on the verandah, while the rest of the evening unfolds just a few steps away in the barn.
Ceremonies take place right by the sea, tucked away in the venue’s own stretch of dunes. It’s peaceful, private, and set against the backdrop of the sound of waves. Whether you walk or take the tractor ride, the arrival alone feels like part of the experience.
Once the vows are done, it’s time to head back to the farm for drinks on the verandah, served from a vintage horse box bar. The evening continues in the Cowshed Wedding Barn, not your average barn, mind you. It’s been carefully designed with soft, neutral décor so that you can add your own style to it.
Everything happens under one roof, which means no need to shuffle between rooms. There’s space to sit back with a drink, enjoy dinner, and hit the dancefloor. You’ll find:
When the party winds down, guests don’t have far to go. There are comfy, adult-sized bunks in Calico Barn for groups, camping and glamping among the dunes, or Poppy Cottage, a quiet spot just a short stroll away, usually where the couple stay.
The Barn offers two options for catering:
Both focus on good food done properly. Local ingredients, high quality, and full of flavour.
Food is sourced with care, prioritising local, ethical, and seasonal options wherever possible. On-site accommodation helps reduce travel, as guests can stay just minutes from the barn.
The town of Amble is only a few miles away and offers additional accommodation options if needed. For those travelling by train, Morpeth station is around twenty minutes away by car. If you or your guests need help planning, the team are always happy to point you in the right direction.
We had our wedding here in August, it was the perfect venue and Alison and Phil were amazing. There was great communication the whole way and they made the whole experience stress free. Couldn’t praise them enough.
Barn on the Bay is a gorgeous venue to get married at. The weather played its part on our day and things could not have been more perfect!
Absolutely wonderful, wonderful venue. Has all you could wish for. The ceremony was held on the dunes. Totally beautiful with sea as a backdrop. Stunning. Accommodation is first class. Alison, Nicola and the team could not have been more supportive and helpful. They made our weekend a marvellous experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We can’t thank you enough for our unbelievable wedding on Saturday and the entire weekend. We literally had the best day of our lives and couldn’t have imagined it any better! You three and the team went above and beyond for us and everyone commented on how amazing the venue was and how friendly and welcoming you all were.
Couldn’t recommend Barn on the Bay highly enough. Alison and Phil, the owners, were so accommodating and went out of their way to ensure that our wedding reception was exactly what we had envisaged. A beautiful venue in a stunning location.
Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you at the Barn for making our day so special and the run up to it go smoothly. We had an amazing day and much of that is down to how you coordinated everything – so many little things in the background that I didn’t even notice happening that you made sure were all sorted.
Yes you can! We have been granted permission for couples to sign with the sea as their back drop so you can complete your legal ceremony beachside if that is your wish.
