With the historic charm of the UNESCO World Heritage City as a backdrop, couples can exchange vows amidst timeless architecture and picturesque gardens. The Botanical Gardens house the Temple of Minerva, an elegant classical stone structure surrounded by lush greenery and winding paths.
This beautiful venue provides an enchanting setting for a truly unique wedding celebration. Whether you’ve dreamed of sunshine and Pimm’s, or a candlelit ceremony on a frosty day, underfloor heating ensures that the Temple is ideal for celebrations year-round.
The Temple of Minerva is licensed for ceremonies, both inside and on the surrounding lawns. For a more personal touch, couples can choose a celebrant-led ceremony after a legal ceremony at the Bath Register Office.
Couples are responsible for giving notice of marriage to their local authority and arranging two witnesses for their ceremony.
After the ceremony, drinks receptions, afternoon teas, or picnics can take place on the adjoining manicured gardens and lawns. The Temple of Minerva lawn provides space for relaxed post-ceremony gatherings, from confetti throwing to lawn games.
Though the Temple of Minerva does not provide on-site accommodations, Bath offers a range of options. From luxurious hotels to charming guesthouses, there are choices to suit every style within this celebrated city.
Couples choosing the Temple of Minerva for their big day have the freedom to bring in a caterer of their own choice. The venue is best suited to cold, ready-to-serve refreshments, as there is no facility to heat food.
Efforts to minimise waste and support local sourcing are central to the venue’s ethos.
Bath combines historical richness with modern sophistication, making it an ideal setting for a wedding. Iconic landmarks like the Roman Baths, the medieval Abbey, and the Georgian streets provide stunning backdrops for your day, while the surrounding countryside offers natural beauty.
The venues are centrally located in Bath’s Botanical Gardens, easily accessible by foot and public transport. Nearby there are city-centre car parks and paid on-road parking.
The venue is beautiful and we were able to take phenomenal photos with the most incredible background.
What a beautiful venue. We hired The Minerva Temple for a bijou wedding (12 people) on a Sunday afternoon. It was perfection. The staff that we had dealt with were so helpful and friendly. Our host for the afternoon was an absolute gentleman. Didn’t want our bijou wedding to end.

A magical place for our vow renewals and 25th wedding anniversary. A small, intimate and beautiful location.

I’ve photographed numerous weddings at the charming and intimate Temple Minerva, and they are always a delight. Emily and Nathan’s in March was no exception. With a small group of guests, it suited them to have the ceremony inside, particularly as it was raining when Emily arrived (there are also options to go bigger with some guests seated outside if needed).
The setup at the Temple of Minerva is perfect for those who want a classy, personalised and meaningful wedding. With the Botanical Gardens surrounding you, there are countless options to take couples’ photos, and I love the blossom that was on display in March. It’s a really lovely venue for smaller weddings in Bath, and I look forward to coming back soon!

The team at Heritage Parks helped us to have the most wonderfully special day. Jess’s unwavering support, calm nature and amazing organisation skills made the wedding preparation process so seamless. The Temple is the most wonderful event space. I would highly recommend their Winter Package Deal. Best decision we made.
Thank you for your generosity, flexibility, support and general kindness. It really means a great deal to us. It was better than
we could have hoped and we wouldn’t change it for anything.
What a beautiful little venue this is. Surrounded by flowers and green! Perfect location.

The day was wonderful! We had the Temple of Minerva for the Winter Package (allowing us exclusive use for about four hours). The day itself began a little worryingly – rain! And lots of it. Luckily for us it cleared up and didn’t dampen the day itself. We had about 20 guests in total, and I think it was the perfect size for that number.
Stunning surroundings, and we had the start of spring buds appearing, even finding some early spring blooms for beautiful picture backdrops.
The staff at the temple on the day were amazing! I snuck back into the kitchens for a moment’s reprieve and was met with the suggestion of a cup of tea. Lovely on a chilly day!
Cannot recommended this venue enough and all the staff at Bath Historic Venues just a big thank you, you were all lovely every step of the way!

We didn’t want a religious wedding nor to get married in a hotel (it just didn’t feel very personal). We love nature, we love history, and we love Bath, so this was an obvious choice for us – in fact, we didn’t even look around any other venues.
It was truly a beautiful backdrop and gives you the freedom to design your own day exactly how you want it.

Rain or shine, we've got you covered!
We have marquee options available to hire, to shelter your guests from showers or sunshine. We also have gazebo options - gazebos can be added right up until 3 days prior to your day, this means you can check the weather forecast on the week of your wedding day before deciding.
Umbrellas might sound obvious, but you could consider personalising them for your guests to take home as a unique gift that can be used again and again.
At the Temple of Minerva we have underfloor heating, therefore perfect all year round!
Don't forget, rainy skies can provide amazing photo opportunities, don't be afraid to ask your photographer what experience they have of photographing outdoors and in wet weather - some often prefer rain to sunshine!
Our city centre locations means we are easily accessible via public transport (both train and park and ride bus) and within a short walking distance of various long and short stay car parks. Bath also boasts an enviable selection of hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation, suited to a variety of tastes and budgets, all just a stone's throw away.
Couples are free to choose their own suppliers, but we also have a detailed suppliers list on our website.
Our services and suppliers list comprises tried and trusted businesses which can only be listed if they have worked at the venues at least twice and we have been given a reference by the clients who used them. We don't operate any commission schemes with the suppliers listed, so can therefore genuinely tell our clients that these suppliers are familiar with the venue, and that they have offered a good service to our previous hirers.
We encourage all of our customers to consider the environment when choosing suppliers and where possible, to source those local to Bath.
