The Setting

Talbooth Restaurant is a beautiful timber-framed building in a unique setting beside the River Stour in Dedham, easily accessible from London Liverpool Street via train.

Classic, elegant and decadent, this wedding venue has it all – 70 years of experience, fabulous food and excellent service. They even have a boat to hire to add a wow factor to your day.

Providing a magical setting for any wedding, from saying ‘I do’ in the riverside restaurant to dancing in the marquee on the upper terrace, the backdrop is picture-perfect for all wedding celebrations.

Your Day

Stay the night before in the stunning riverside cottage Idle Waters and soak in the views of the glorious wedding venue across the river bank whilst getting ready for the big day, or book a room at the luxury Talbooth House and Spa and enjoy some pampering the afternoon before the wedding whilst relaxing in the knowledge that everything is being taken care of.

The licensed restaurant has stunning period features and looks out onto the River Stour, terrace and perfectly manicured lawns. Getting married in the River Room followed by a wedding breakfast in the Marquee means that the wedding party has exclusivity of Talbooth Restaurant during the wedding day, from the ceremony through to early evening.

Food

It really is all about the food at the Talbooth. With great ingredients, imaginative menus and 70 years of expertise in catering for fabulous events, their chefs can create incredible options for your wedding based on all kinds of menu tastes and styles. Menu options include fine dining standard and restaurant-quality three-course banquets or exciting sharing-style menus for a slightly more relaxed vibe.

Three fabulous event planners are also on hand to assist throughout the planning process every step of the way. On the day, a dedicated event manager ensures everything runs seamlessly from start to finish.

Accommodation

The nearby Talbooth House & Spa has 12 luxurious bedrooms, a tennis court, an outdoor pool (heated to a sizzling 85 degrees Fahrenheit), a sauna, and a hot tub. The spa has six treatment rooms and offers a wide range of treatments, enabling the wedding party plenty of time to pamper and relax before the big day. You can even take the whole house and spa and enjoy a fabulous wedding weekend. In addition to the Talbooth House and Spa, sister property Milsoms offers a buzzing brasserie restaurant with gorgeous grounds and a further 15 bedrooms. The Talbooth House and Spa is available for exclusive hire, and wedding weekends are a real thing at this venue!

The staff at the hotels and reception were unfailingly attentive, amenable, kind and friendly to us and to all our guests, even the rowdiest!! Particular thanks to the Milsoms car driver who came to rescue us from church when our wedding car disappeared, and Gerry at Le Talbooth itself. She was the kindest and most efficient host during our whole party, her attention to detail was impeccable and she couldn’t do enough for us to make sure we felt special throughout, including giving a rather merry bride a last glass of prosecco after the bar was closed and going to unearth a piece of wedding cake for said bride after it had all been packed away! Keighley you have also, of course, been amazing to work with throughout the planning process, making sure all our visions were carried out down to every last detail and dealing with last minute changes so calmly and easily. The venue looked incredible, hopefully Ellie and Suzi will be able to send you some good photographs. The food was delicious and all our guests were raving about it – the chocolate brownie in particular I could eat for days!! You have the most fantastic team of staff and we loved every minute of our wedding experience! We will be sure to come back for a meal and chat when we return from travels in a few months.
