St Mary’s Chapel
Beside the castle at Sudeley stands the exquisite church of St Mary’s. Built around 1070, this ancient chapel hosts blessing ceremonies that can be delivered by a local vicar, celebrant or even a friend. The chapel lies in the heart of Sudeley’s gardens and can accommodate up to 130 guests.
Lawns, Gardens & Rose Covered Ruins
If you’re dreaming of an open-air wedding, Sudeley Castle has a number of glorious settings in which vows can be made. The Haha offers views over the rose garden with the castle as your backdrop and long, pastoral views over the rolling Cotswolds hills. The ancient Tithe Barn frames your ceremony with flower-scented ruins of dream-like quality.
The Queen’s Garden
Luxuriously encased in double-planted, 200-year-old yew hedges, The Queen’s Garden is the magnificent centrepiece of Sudeley’s gardens and a quintessentially English setting in which to host your drinks reception. Named after four of England’s Queens: Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr, Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I, the garden brims with roses and has a sparkling fountain at its centre. There are several options for marquees where guests can take in views of time-softened ruins of Sudeley’s Royal Apartments.
Orangery & Castle Coach House
The light-filled Orangery and adjoining Castle Coach House and bar offer versatile spaces in which to accommodate up to 150 guests. The elegant glass structure and wrought iron work offer a classical blank canvas to transform into your dream venue. The far-reaching views across the terrace to the rolling Cotswold Hills beyond make for a fairy tale backdrop and a perfect, sunlit location in which to share your wedding breakfast.
The Castle Coach House is steeped in history, perfect for dancing the night away or dining within the castle walls.
The North Lawn
For larger exclusive celebrations, the manicured North Lawn comfortably accommodates marquees of all sizes. Located between the tree-lined castle entrance and the flower-strewn ruins of Sudeley’s glorious Tithe Barn.
Wedding celebrations are reflected in the large carp pond, offering magical photography moments.
Mulberry Lawn
Surrounded by castle walls and the spectacular ruins of the Royal Apartments, this exquisite lawn enjoys unrivalled romantic backdrops and a sense of history; perfect for open-air drinks receptions or alfresco dining.
Sudeley’s enviable position in the heart of the Cotswolds and estate portfolio means it can offer a wide selection of accommodation for over 100 guests.
There are 18 holiday cottages on the estate offering relaxed, comfortable and thoughtful accommodation with individuality. Ranging from beautifully renovated ancient buildings, including a paper mill, an old forge, 18th-century workers’ cottages, to new cottages built in distinctive Cotswold stone, the Sudeley Castle Cottages and farmhouses are perfect for groups of three to 14 guests.
All the properties have been carefully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished, and many come with gardens and are dog-friendly.
Thank you too for all your help leading up to our wedding. It was honestly the best day of our lives! Everything went so well, the marquee looked absolutely beautiful! We had the most amazing weather, not too hot and not too cold, so we were able to have most of the marquee sides open which was how I wanted to have it (but you can’t plan these things, so we were just lucky!) and the food was so delicious!
We had an amazing wedding at Sudeley Castle a month ago. It was a truly unforgettable once in a life time experience for me and Alan. As someone who lives outside the UK, it wasn’t easy to pick a wedding venue from abroad but the picture of Sudeley Castle immediately caught my eyes when I was searching. I reached out to Astrid directly to inquire about wedding options at the castle. She was very professional and helpful in giving me ideas on possible options and arrangements. I had no hesitation in choosing Sudeley Castle after speaking to her as I knew the wedding would be perfect at the castle under her good hands! Astrid was very accommodating and allowed us to use the Secret Garden for our symbolic wedding as well as the library for our civil ceremony. She was there throughout to ensure that things went smoothly during the day. We are so glad that we chose Sudeley Castle for our wedding. Not only was it a memorable event for us, it was also a memorable experience for our guests. I have heard from many of my guests that they were all amazed by the lovely setting, the historical touch of the castle as well as the wondering arrangement of the day. Thank you so much, Astrid and the Sudeley Castle staff, for making our once in a life time experience perfect! It would never be the same without your help and professional advice throughout! We already miss the place so much and hope to visit you and the castle in the not very distant future!
Thank you for helping us throughout the planning stage, multiple change of dates and dealing with never ending questions and out of hours calls and emails etc. You kept the day running smoothly and your lucky umbrellas kept the rain at bay at all the key moments!
Our day was magical thanks to family and friends who attended, staff working on the day and all the suppliers and vendors. Even the peacock made an appearance to the delight of the children (one toddler thought it was a chicken which was amusing). We will forever treasure the day!
I want to say a massive thank you… The day was absolutely perfect. All of our guests were so impressed with the venue, the lighting looked fab, the food was incredible, the day ran like clockwork, it was just perfect!
We just want to say a HUGE thank you to you and the team at Sudeley Castle for all of your help and support with our wedding. You have gone above and beyond to help make our day special.
It was perfect and very special to us!
Thank you so much for us helping us with everything. I don’t think we could have asked for better weather or for our vision to come together in a better way. You and all your team were just fantastic.
