Tucked away in the picturesque Surrey countryside, the award-winning Somersbury Barn is the perfect location for your special celebration.
Surrounded by 30 acres of ancient oaks, wildflower meadows, apple orchards and willow trees tumbling into a tranquil pond, Somersbury is a quintessential rural idyll.
The current house is believed to date back to the 16th century and stands on land that was once owned by Henry II in 1154. It’s amazing to think what this place may have seen.
Working with specialist local craftsmen, the buildings have been restored to their former glory. To help the land flourish, thousands of young trees and native hedgerows were planted, and millions of wildflower seeds were scattered to create a stunning wildflower meadow.
Somersbury is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies in beautiful indoor and outdoor settings across the manor.
The Tipi: Walk the rustic aisle through a meadow of wildflowers to the Tipi. Seating 120 guests, the Tipi is surrounded by ancient woodland and filled with the sounds of bees and birdsong.
The Barn: The ancient oak barn seats 120 people for a romantic ceremony, enveloped by the warmth of the barn. The barn also comes equipped with staging, a PA system, microphones, a projector and a screen.
The Glasshouse: The quirky Foster & Pearson Victorian Glasshouse is perfect for a more intimate ceremony, seating 24, with views over cottage gardens filled with flowers and wildflower meadows.
The Porch: An aisle through the barn’s peaceful gardens leads to the beautiful rustic porch. Hold the ceremony under the ancient oak beams of the porch with up to 120 guests seated in the garden.
The ancient oak barn has a capacity of 120 guests for the wedding breakfast, under a breathtaking vaulted ceiling crossed by oak beams. Rustic sharing tables create a convivial atmosphere for the meal, or cafe-style seating on round tables for elegant dining. While maintaining the barn’s historic charm, it also comes equipped with everything you need to throw a serious party: staging, a dance floor, a PA system, microphones, a projector, and even a disco ball! Need a break from dancing? Step out into the cool night air and enjoy drinks around the fire pits, wrapped in cosy throws.
There are a variety of options for reception drinks throughout the estate: the stunning Maharajah tent in the barn’s gardens makes a statement while providing shade; the lovingly restored Victorian Glasshouse can be used for an intimate seating area or set up for a bar – and of course, for the ultimate boho wedding, enjoy drinks in the wildflower meadow with the Tipi for shade.
The use of the Tipi, Victorian Glasshouse and Maharajah Tent is all included in the main hire fee.
Within the Barn is a secluded, cosy room – complete with an ensuite bathroom – for the wedding couple to get ready and spend the night. Wake up to the tranquil sounds of birdsong, surrounded by the magic of Somersbury Barn.

As stewards of this ancient manor, Somersbury cares deeply about working sustainably for the benefit of future generations.
Working with artisan craftsmen, the historic buildings were lovingly restored to their former glory. Somersbury not only nurture their existing trees but has also planted thousands of English oaks to reconnect swathes of ancient woodland. Native hedgerows were installed, and millions of wildflower seeds were scattered to create a spellbinding wildflower meadow. The estate is also home to hives of bees, boxes for bats and sparrow hawks!
Trusted Suppliers source food and flowers locally, where possible, creating menus and floral displays that respect the seasons and are in harmony with nature.
