We were so pleased when we found Shoreditch Studios for our wedding. We wanted to find a dry hire venue that allowed us to bring in our own suppliers and to get creative. The exposed brick, arches and white walls all provided the perfect blank canvas and the two studios gave us the flexibility we needed without having to interrupt the day by ‘turning over’ the rooms. It was a bonus that the Studios are regularly used for events, meaning that their team managed the process with ease and were very accommodating with our often strange requests and with all our suppliers. We had the most amazing day- thank you!
We met in London and have lived our entire relationship here so we always knew there was no where else that would feel right when we got married. We were recommended Shoreditch Studios by a close friend. It ticked all the boxes. Located in an old Underground station, it had two amazing exposed brick arches, was right in the middle of Shoreditch, close to the Town Hall and had bags of character. The venue had two separate rooms, we could have the wedding breakfast in one Arch and the party in the other without people having to hang around during set up. We were also able to extend the license until 2am so we didn’t have to stop the party early which was also big thing for us.
We are so pleased we chose Shoreditch Studios to host our wedding. All our guests commented on what a great venue it really was! We really can’t thank you guys enough. Fab venue, fab team!!
We’d researched venues across the country because the type of building was important, rather than the actual location. It needed to be a blank canvas and have elements of the industrial; we also needed a dry hire to enable us to realise all of our ideas. Initially, we thought we couldn’t afford London and were also put off by the number of venues who put restrictions on caterers, wine lists and the time we could be there. One venue (who shall remain nameless) wanted to charge ten thousand pounds just to allow us in the door between 1pm and 11pm – including set up and strike – before even discussing food, drink, staffing, lighting and sound. Crucially, Shoreditch Studios has two rooms. This meant that our guests would be in one for the ceremony, then the other for pre-meal drinks, back through for dinner and then back out again for the evening festivities. We loved the idea of having the opportunity to surprise our guests not once, but several times! We ignored everyone’s advice and didn’t physically look anywhere else. We knew Shoreditch Studios fitted the bill perfectly. Dan, Andrew, Maree and the whole team were open to all of our ideas (even the crazy ones!) and were incredibly flexible and supportive.
We knew we had to find a London venue, both of us being from here. The other main requirement was that it needed to be a black canvas space, where we could do dry hire and supply everything ourselves. We viewed a couple of beautiful spaces, but they were a bit too prim and proper for us, so when we walked into Shoreditch Studios with its exposed brick and archways, we were immediately sold. We had actually been to an event there, years ago, but seeing it completely clear, we knew we had so much space to work with! It also had an outside courtyard, which we loved, as it can be hard to get outside spaces in urban London venues.
We both live in Hackney and felt very strongly we wanted to get married somewhere close to home and we really didn’t want people to have to travel far and spend money on accommodation. We both really like industrial architecture, so we were looking at warehouses and halls, however, an outside area was important which was why Shoreditch Studios were perfect. The venue was a blank canvas and we didn’t need to do much to make it look amazing. We both love colour so the paper lanterns were the perfect option. It dropped the ceiling to make the meal more intimate and the look was exactly what we wanted. Our invites had a Tandem bike on it and my Father found one to hang from the ceiling as a surprise. The S&M were made by a family friend as a wedding gift, I really wanted some light up letters at our wedding but they were too expensive to buy, they looked amazing behind the band for the party.
We really wanted to do something different for our wedding. We have attended weddings in beautiful castles, rustic barns, and gorgeous hotels abroad, but we had both never been to a big London wedding, so we thought we would stay local and make use of the amazing city backdrop that we call home. We looked around East London because we wanted something with a warehouse/New York style vibe, and we knew we wanted somewhere that wasn’t a standard wedding venue, that hosted weddings every day of the week. Shoreditch Studios was by far the best option for us as it was a totally blank canvas, catered for our numbers, we could stay way past midnight, it was in a great location and a good price too. The team were super helpful at organising viewings, and letting us drop off certain things before the wedding, so we were so pleased with our decision.
A dry hire venue or 'dry hire wedding' refers to hiring a venue as a blank canvas or empty space rather than an all-inclusive venue hire and catering package. We can also help you find and book all of your wedding suppliers or introduce you to a wedding planner.

Yes, if you want to manage your bar, you can hire in a bar structure and BYO alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. We can help with hiring a bar structure and staff. One of your bar staff will need to have a personal licence. Alternatively, you can speak to one of our recommended caterers to discuss a bespoke catering and bar package to fit with your budget or work out a cash bar system.

When holding a date we will inform you whether you are the first pencil (1st option), or second pencil (2nd option) on that date. We operate a first-come, first-served policy with regards to putting any pencils on dates. If you are 2nd option on a date and ready to put down a deposit and sign a contract, and the 1st option cannot do so within 24hrs, then you can secure the date.
