About
Setting

Runa Farm sits just outside the market town of Barnard Castle and is surrounded by 40 acres of rolling County Durham fields. The working farm offers sweeping views, wildflower meadows, and traditional stone buildings. Residents include Shetland ponies, alpacas, llamas, and a donkey named Dottie.

The farm is run by the team behind Newton Hall and Le Petit Château, two of the North East’s most celebrated venues. While it shares their high standards, Runa Farm has its own distinct identity. Influenced by the relaxed glamour of the White Isle, the setting blends rustic character with Balearic-style touches.

Ceremony

Outdoor vows are a signature of the farm. Ceremonies can take place in the open air, surrounded by fields, animals, and natural greenery. Those seeking a more Mediterranean flavour can opt for something with Ibizan elegance. Their approach is relaxed, stylish, and designed around your personal taste.

Reception

Receptions can be lively, intimate, or both. Think live music, outdoor feasting, and a sense of celebration that feels spontaneous but well-considered. The farm offers flexibility, whether you’re planning a full-blown festival or something simpler.

Accommodation

The farm’s accommodation, available exclusively to the couple and their guests, reflects the concept of natural luxury. Stays are designed to be simple yet indulgent, with calm interiors and Balearic inspiration throughout.

Couples considering a multi-day celebration can extend their stay. This offers more time to relax with loved ones and create shared memories across two or three days.

Local Area

The market town of Barnard Castle lies nearby, offering quaint streets and independent shops. It’s a useful and attractive base for any guests extending their visit.

“

We just wanted to say, from the bottom of our hearts, how amazing our wedding at Runa Farm was.

Leading up to the day, Abby Watts was our coordinator, and she couldn’t have done enough for us. She was so helpful and the pre-meeting for the wedding she was so insightful, had excellent knowledge about the timeline of the day and other arrangements to it, she was always available to answer my questions and provide guidance when needed.

The night before, Amy assisted with expectations and what to do and when. She was so friendly and answered all my questions. She was personable and very accommodating.

On the day itself, I was lucky enough to have Emma at Runa Farm. Emma was amazing! She was so calm and collected, and she went above and beyond with every ask. She provided us with such a smooth timeline and was there whenever we needed her. She was great with guests and very attentive.

Rob was our Master of Ceremonies, and he was fabulous. Very engaging, had a laugh with the guests and us. He was a great leader who everyone followed. He was very much a part of the day, which is exactly what we wanted.

The bar staff were also fab, they never stopped and were always to hand. And the chefs were amazing – the food was the best guests said they’d ever had at a wedding. The food was perfect.

Thank you all so much, it was fabulous, and our special day will be forever remembered all because of you and the named people above.

Thank you so much, we can’t wait to visit Runa again in future and tell everyone about it, plus the Apartment Group as a whole.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for any more! It’s such a cliché that everyone says it’s the best day of their lives, but it couldn’t be more true, it exceeded all of our expectations. We took a massive risk booking a venue that wasn’t even built and there were a few times when we wondered what on earth had we done, but it absolutely paid off! Runa farm is just incredible! We really wanted the rustic, countryside, barn vibe but loved that Runa had that whilst being a bit different to the usual barn venues. SO many of our guests commented on what an unbelievable wedding it was (a lot even said it was the best wedding they’ve been to) and, although we’re biased, we couldn’t agree more. It just felt so special and beautiful.

The staff were absolutely incredible. Many of our guests mentioned how lovely they were, and they really went out of their way for us, especially Emma! We couldn’t have asked for a more attentive, lovely person to run our day, who made sure everything was perfect whilst being a real joy to have around (thanks for sneaking in the Christmas songs too Emma)! Beth, our wedding coordinator, was fabulous throughout, even though we were a total nightmare with dietary requirements. Beth was always there to answer any questions, however big or small, and silly they were (and there were a lot) and made sure our wedding completely matched what we wanted (thank you for the Christmas trees). We’re gutted the wedding is over as we’d love to do it all again, nearly 2 months on we’re still having wedding blues!

Thank you, again, to all at Runa Farm, you were amazing! If you’re thinking of getting married here, do it, you won’t regret it!
