Rothes Glen is set within Highland woodland and moorland in the heart of Speyside, an area widely regarded as one of Scotland’s most striking regions. The castle offers a strong sense of privacy while remaining easy to reach, positioned between Inverness and Aberdeen airports and supported by its own helipad. This balance makes it well-suited to intimate destination weddings with guests travelling from near and far.

Across the estate, century-old Scots pine trees, open views towards the Cairngorms and a series of well-kept gardens provide a setting that changes with the seasons. From spring blooms to winter light, the surroundings offer a consistent backdrop for photography and a calm atmosphere for multi-day celebrations.

Civil ceremonies can take place indoors within the castle or outdoors across the grounds. Couples may choose to exchange vows beneath the iconic marriage trees, on the lawns or on the rose garden terrace. Indoor ceremonies are held within the castle’s characterful rooms, where period details and natural light create an intimate setting.

Receptions unfold across a range of elegant interior spaces, allowing the celebration to shift in tone as the day progresses. Guests are welcomed with Champagne or a dram of whisky before gathering for dining, music and dancing in the drawing room, ballroom or grand hall. Live music can be arranged in several locations, including the grand hall balcony.

As the evening continues, guests are free to move through the castle, from quieter moments in the library to games in the snooker room. Fireworks displays can be arranged in the meadow or beside the lochan, offering a memorable close while keeping the celebration contained within the estate.

The castle sleeps up to 28 guests across 14 king-size bedrooms, each with a private en-suite. Rooms are arranged across the upper floors and are designed for comfort, combining generous proportions, warm lighting, and locally made furnishings. Large windows frame views across the gardens and grounds.

The Phoebe Suite stands out for its natural light and spacious bathroom, making it particularly well-suited to wedding-morning preparations. With all guests staying on-site, celebrations can extend beyond a single day, allowing for relaxed mornings and shared meals.

Dining at Rothes Glen is flexible and shaped around each couple’s preferences. Wedding dinners can be hosted in a variety of settings, including the dining room, rose terrace, courtyard or beside the lochan. Menus follow a fine-dining approach, focusing on seasonal, local produce.

Throughout the stay, guests enjoy breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals, with the chef happy to accommodate special requests. This house-party style approach allows food and drink to feel personal and unhurried, supporting a multi-day celebration.

Electric car charging points are available on site, supporting guests travelling by electric vehicle.

Rothes Glen lies just north of Rothes in the Spey Valley. Elgin is a short drive away, with the Moray Firth beyond, offering additional accommodation and coastal walks for guests extending their stay. The surrounding area is known for its distilleries, historic towns and open countryside, making it well-suited to a long-weekend celebration.

The castle is well connected by road, rail and air. Inverness Airport is around an hour to the west, with Aberdeen Airport approximately an hour and fifteen minutes to the east. Aviemore train station offers direct services to Edinburgh and onward connections to London.
