The Setting

Set in over 100 acres of glorious parkland, this exquisite Grade I listed Regency house has a timeless elegance about it.

Outside, there are far reaching views of Haldon Hill, Haldon Belvedere and even Cawsand Beacon on Dartmoor, along with a picturesque lake, manicured lawns and formal terraces. The backdrop for your wedding couldn’t be more perfect.

Their closest city is Exeter with its atmospheric quayside and historic centre. The nearest train station is at Cranbrook just a few miles away which is a huge benefit for those travelling from afar. Local taxi firm, Apple Taxis frequently travel to Rockbeare and are well accustomed to dropping guests from the Manor to central Exeter where a variety of hotels are available for guests looking to stay nearby.

The Vibe

Rockbeare Manor is a charming country house that was built in around 1760 for Sir John Duntze, an Exeter woollen merchant and banker. Since it was last purchased by William Nation in 1855 it has passed from generation to generation and has always been a cherished family home.

There is a dream-like quality, style, and romance at Rockbeare Manor. Over the last 250 years it has evolved but one thing that has remained at the heart of it – it’s a wonderful place for entertaining. In 2016 it was given a new lease of life, sensitively transformed into a wonderful contemporary venue whilst still retaining the beauty of its past, creating without doubt, a truly outstanding location for a wedding.

Everything about the house has been thoughtfully arranged, from the Grand Entrance Hall to the balconied Bridal Drawing Room and light-filled Ballroom, all of which have a magnificent outlook onto the grounds. Their Billiard Room has been designed especially with the groomsmen in mind, making it the ideal place to gather before the proceedings commence.

Weddings are their passion. From the moment you catch your first glimpse of Rockbeare Manor through the trees lining the driveway, right up to the big day itself, they want you to have the day that you have always imagined, and as such they’ll do their utmost to ensure that you have the support that you need to be able to achieve this.

Whether you have 50 or 160 guests attending, they have a choice of places to hold your civil ceremony, including the stately Dining Room which seats up to 100 guests, or outside under the archway of the South Pavilion. You can then enjoy reception drinks and some delicious canapés, before being invited into the spacious Ballroom for a lavish wedding breakfast.

The Rockbeare Manor experience is all about going the extra mile and delivering the highest possible level of service – because they never forget, it’s the little things that make a big difference.

The Dairy – Stay the night before your wedding

The Dairy is their beautiful bijou character cottage and getting-ready studio, located in the grounds of the Rockbeare Manor Estate and it is where your wedding experience starts! It makes the perfect place for a Wedding Party to meet, stay the night, and embrace the suspense and excitement of what’s to come… over a bottle or two of bubbly of course!

Think, arrivals at 4pm, getting settled and making sure everyone’s outfits are ready for the morning, a meal out in a local pub or a take-away in-front of a movie followed by an early-ish night to make sure everyone gets their beauty sleep the night before the wedding day.

In the morning, hair and make-up suppliers can be with you as early as you wish (although don’t make it too early – you have a long day ahead!) and that will mean you will have plenty of time to really take in everything about this momentous occasion.

At 11.30am, your Event Manager will come and collect you and guide you to the stunning Drawing Room at Rockbeare Manor for dress fittings and drinks and to continue making all of those finishing touches.
