For your ceremony the Gatehouse is perfect. Dating back to as early as 1380, this historic building is guarded by a romantic rose garden and archway and accessed via a short staircase. Inside you and your guests can take in the incredible restoration work that catapults you back to Pentney Abbey’s heyday – think grand exposed beams, lots of space and ornate stone windows revealing views of the Abbey. A secret antique spiral staircase leading to the licensed ceremony room, which seats 80 guests, promises a bridal entrance no one will forget.
Thinking about an outdoor wedding..? The rose garden is a great spot with the Gatehouse forming a stunning backdrop to your celebrations. With the incredible 35-acre grounds complete with wildflowers, old trees and the picturesque meandering river, your photographs at Pentney Abbey will be amazing.
With room for up to 100 guests, as well as a live band or DJ, The Barn at Pentney Abbey serves as a great location for your wedding breakfast and reception. Stone flooring and exposed timber beams are in keeping with the rest of the venue’s grand aesthetic and this space has its roots in the times of medieval banquets. Their professional in-house catering team will work with you to create a bespoke menu for you and your guests to enjoy there. There’s a bar there as well and access to a patio that can be used in the summer. For night owls, there’s a fire pit in the courtyard too.
There are eight bedrooms in total at Pentney Abbey, accommodating up to 16 of your friends and family who can stay for breakfast in the morning too. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms in the luxe yet cosy Farmhouse, which also has a dining room and kitchen and more space in Fig Tree and Walnut Tree Cottages. The bridal suite will welcome you and your partner after your special day, with a wood burning stove and a sumptuous seating area.
