The Setting
Newhall Estate lies on the outskirts of Edinburgh yet is a world away from city life. Steeped in history, this hidden gem is known for its enchanting atmosphere and poetic elegance. Ensconced in idyllic grounds, its year-round appeal provides an ideal setting.
The Estate was built with family at its core. Not only has it been home to the Kennedy family for decades, but it has welcomed generations of families over its threshold to enjoy its exuberant charm and magic. A wedding symbolises the joining of two families and two people; they are proud and delighted that the estate can echo these sentiments with its ethos and history.
The Vibe
During your stay, they invite you to enjoy the house and grounds as if they were your home. Whether lighting the fires for your arrival or setting the dining room for a family dinner, they will work with you to ensure that all of your requirements are met and that each element of your weekend is personal and significant.
The Walled Garden provides an ethereal setting for a marriage, whilst the elegant Sun Room can comfortably seat 100 for a ceremony. The flexibility provided on the estate to accommodate rain or shine is unique: from the exquisite gardens to the warmth of the roaring fires, the year-round nature of the venue will ensure that your celebrations pass with ebullience and zest.
Their newly renovated Coach House can seat 150 for dinner; alternatively, you could choose to have a more intimate celebration in the opulent dining room. The house provides luxurious accommodation for up to 29, with room for a further 11 guests on-site in The Steading, The Bothy and Stable Flat.
Working with a trusted panel of caterers, a bespoke menu can be created for your tastes and needs – from simple drinks to the most decadent reception to culinary weekends.
Each weekend is tailored to your requests, acknowledging that Newhall is your home from Friday until Sunday evening. They are always delighted to help organise activities to entertain your guests, from clay pigeon shooting and archery to 4×4 driving, Highland Games and barbecues. The latter two are particular hits for blowing away cobwebs from the night before!
Fireworks can be arranged on request. In addition, with a working walled garden, they can provide flowers for your special day, whether for a bouquet or decoration.
There is an accessible bedroom on the ground floor of Newhall House and accessible toilets in the house and function space.
