The Setting

Swanton Morley House is located in the heart of the Norfolk countryside and the venue itself is set within 10 acres of beautiful gardens, woodland and meadow.

The gardens which change greatly with the seasons and turn from the calm silhouette of winter, to the freshness of spring, to the riot of summer colour and then to rich and warm autumnal tones are sure to make each wedding special and memorable to everyone involved. Extensive planting of evergreens over 100 hundred years ago, including azaleas, holly, yew, rhododendron and Portuguese laurel guarantees that the garden remains vibrant all year round providing almost endless opportunities for stunning wedding photography.

The Vibe

As the wedding venue is exclusively yours and with no set plans with regards to any aspect of your day, Swanton Morley House weddings are tailored to each couple. They start with a beautiful and elegant setting which then allows each couple to add their own style and details to make their day truly unique. With an “anything is possible” philosophy and contacts with the best local wedding suppliers, weddings at Swanton Morley House are relaxed and personal.

The former stable block makes up the wedding venue buildings and incorporates the ceremony room, sofa “chill-out” room, gallery room, kitchen, toilets; surrounding a Mediterranean style courtyard. All of the rooms have recently been fitted out to a very high standard and feature double height ceilings and exposed oak beams. The ceremony room provides seating space for up to 100 guests and has been decorated in a neutral palette allowing couples to add their own finishing touches.

The courtyard is covered by a bespoke centre poled marquee roof with the brickwork and climbing plants remaining exposed. Together with the beautiful limestone paving, the courtyard retains its Mediterranean feel creating the illusion of the warmth of summer all year round. The surrounding rooms all connect to the courtyard via french doors which allow the “spaces to flow” but also provide the flexibility to close off some of the rooms from the courtyard.

You may choose to have a string quartet on the deck under the lawson cypress, drinks on the main lawn in front of the ha-ha or simply enjoy lawn games and tennis, the options are endless.

Swanton Morley House is passionate about their gardens, growing flowers and can even provide beautiful blooms for a couple’s wedding day. They work closely with florists who share the passion to use locally grown flowers and sustainable floristry methods and are happy to advise couples on seasonal availability.

The Setting

Built in the 16th century, The Tithe Barn is set within the grounds of the Duke of Devonshire’s majestic Bolton Abbey estate in the Yorkshire Dales. This Grade II* listed building is one of the largest exclusive-use wedding venues in the UK.

The Vibe

Inside, the barn’s majestic scale comes into its own. It is lit with uplights on the flagstone floor and fairy lights woven through the beams that support the barn’s elevated ceiling. Huge medieval chandeliers refract candlelight around the room.

Ceremonies take place in the main barn. The terrace has views across the Bolton Abbey Priory ruins and the surrounding landscape. It has large fire pits and plenty of seating so that guests can enjoy the spectacular view during post-ceremony drinks.

Feast in style in The Tithe Barn on food flame-grilled on a huge indoor BBQ and French rotisseries. Their in-house chefs buy the best, cook it simply and serve it generously.

The on-site Tithe Barn team are on hand to help with everything, from the big ideas to the last-minute details.

The Setting

Thorpe Garden is set within 3,000 acres of private estate in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside.

Concealed within the estate is a two-acre walled garden with a rich history. Once cultivated to grow produce for the estate (owned by the Inge Family since 1631), in the 80s, it became an organic garden, selling its wares to London restaurants. It has now been restored to its former glory, abundant in flowers and trees.

The Vibe

The Ceremony Room is a striking new addition to the garden, designed by RIBA award-winning architect Seth Stein. The building features a large sloping roof which floats over the listed Victorian wall, with glass doors opening onto a large terrace and the garden beyond.

The hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind yurt boasts steamed mountain ash supports, solid oak doors, and large windows that frame beautiful views of the walled garden. Fairy lights, flowers and festoons create the atmosphere for an intimate dinner and drinks. After dinner, this room is transformed into a spectacular dance floor.

The original gardener’s bothy cottage has also been sympathetically restored and can be used as the Bride’s Room.

The team at Thorpe Garden pride themselves on their feasts and use the finest produce. A team of highly qualified chefs cook fresh, quality ingredients on our tailor-made grill and rotisseries. They present simple, memorable dishes from canapés to whole barbecued lamb, their signature beef sirloin bricks and smoky chargrilled vegetables.

Helping you plan and organise your day is a key part of what they do. They will support you throughout the planning process and be there on the day to ensure everything goes smoothly. Their guests are always impressed with the level of service they receive from their on-site teams.

There is ample local accommodation, the train station is 6 miles away and Aberdeen airport is 20 minutes. They even have a helipad on the lawn!

The Vibe

Imagine arriving, all of your wedding preparations already taken care of. Have a glass of wine or three in the hot tubs. Why not have a family BBQ in the courtyard the day after your wedding, or a set piece meal the evening before.

Their purpose built soundproof, air conditioned ballroom (which incorporates the old stable block) is great for up to 160 day guests, while the dining room in the house is suitable for smaller weddings up to 55 day guests.

The ballroom is already dressed in cream drapes and fairy lights, so requires little to no decorating (if you like). It can be used for both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. The dining and drawing rooms in the house are both enormous and tastefully set out. They are popular for smaller weddings. Alternatively they also offer outdoor weddings in the courtyard or on the lawn.

Their award-winning caterers (Hudsons) have over 25 years experience. They have catered for the Queen and the American president to name drop a few. They have also catered for mere mortals too and can provide any type of cuisine you like for your wedding day. You can take your own alcohol too! They can also arrange for catering for rest of your stay if you like, or you can make yourselves at home with self-catering options.

Their two Events Managers have a wealth of experience with over 250 weddings under their belts. They can take the strain and stress from planning the happiest day of your lives. They know what works, who is good and can make recommendation that they stand behind.

They have excellent facilities for wheelchairs or guests that may need a little extra assistance. They are happy to welcome dogs (and cats, horses, llamas & alpacas!).

What they quote is what you pay. They have no hidden extras or drip pricing. Their tables, Chiavari chairs and posh whisky barrels are all included in the venue hire cost and their caterers include all the tableware, linen and staffing. Their bar prices are pub prices and the bar is by the dance floor (so the band don’t play to an empty room!)

They have many guests from around the world holding their weddings at Logie. Many see the house for the first time the day before their wedding and they have a wealth of experience arranging everything for guests from afar.

Logie Country House is unpretentious, relaxed, warm and welcoming. Make your wedding stress free, relaxed and hugely memorable for you and all of your guests.
