Tucked away in its own private valley in the Cotswolds, Owlpen Manor stands as a perfectly preserved Tudor Manor House, often hailed as “the most beautiful place in England.” Surrounded by lush landscapes and historic gardens, this award-winning barn venue exudes a relaxed, private, and deeply romantic vibe. The friendly team ensures a warm welcome, making Owlpen a haven for those seeking a unique wedding experience.
Several options await for wedding ceremonies at Owlpen. The 1446 Cyder Barn offers an intimate, atmospheric indoor setting. For those who prefer the open air, the historic gardens provide a beautiful backdrop, with multiple licensed outdoor spots for an official ceremony. The nearby Owlpen Church, a short stroll from the manor, comfortably hosts up to 120 guests, adding a touch of timeless charm to your vows.
From indoor celebrations in the rustic Cyder Barn to relaxed outdoor gatherings, the venue allows you to personalise the reception to your taste. With three days at your disposal, there’s ample time to decorate, host a rehearsal, and enjoy a warm welcome with drinks. For the big day, Owlpen’s team is ready to assist, offering a seamless experience from makeup to the evening’s close. Enjoy cocktails by the fire pits, live music, and a spacious dance floor, setting the stage for a lively, memorable evening.
Nine boutique cottages are available within the Owlpen Estate, each with a unique style and character. From the old mill to the schoolhouse or the 17th-century banqueting house, each option provides guests with a comfortable, charming retreat. With each cottage just a short walk from the manor, family and friends can relax and enjoy the wedding festivities without leaving the estate.
Owlpen’s head chef creates custom menus to match the tastes and preferences of each couple, ensuring every meal feels personal and special. Choose from seasonal, locally sourced dishes and explore the selection of wines, including English sparkling options and premium champagnes, curated to complement your chosen menu. For a relaxed touch, Owlpen also offers afternoon teas, barbecues, and wood-fired pizzas, or the option to bring in food trucks or buffet-style dining for a casual evening celebration.
Owlpen’s commitment to sustainability is rooted in every detail. The venue is heated by a heat pump, which provides gentle under-floor heating when required. It is perfectly designed to offer a breeze in summer, so you don’t need to rely on unsustainable air conditioning. Local, sustainable food sourcing is prioritised, aligning with Owlpen’s environmental values.
Set in the Cotswold Hills, Owlpen Manor offers a peaceful countryside experience yet remains accessible. Just 90 minutes by train from London and less than ten miles from the M4 and M5 motorways, the estate is a short drive from major transport links.
Full directions, including What3Words coordinates for each building, are available on the Owlpen website.
The perfect effortless day.
My husband and I were married at Owlpen. From the first time we visited until the day we left, the team have been absolutely outstanding. Bella and Tonya deserve special mention because they genuinely felt like friends, and we felt ever so comfortable in their presence. They went the extra mile to accommodate us and always got back to my barrage of questions. I was genuinely pleased to see them both when they dropped on the morning of our wedding.
Other than everything going absolutely seamlessly, we had lots of time to prepare and even do a run-through, which was great fun – using the guys as bridesmaids was a highlight! We have nothing but praise and admiration for the Owlpen team, and we are so glad that we didn’t see any other venues, as we instantly knew this was the place.
The onsite accommodation was quirky and different; there were no hotel corridors and rooms here. Many of our guests said it was genuinely the best wedding they had ever been to, and being able to stay onsite with all our friends and even go wild swimming the day after the wedding (not for the faint of heart, but definitely an unforgettable experience!) was just priceless.
We are so grateful to the team and all their hard work. Can we come back and do it again?
We got married at Owlpen Manor in December, and we had the best wedding weekend!
It makes such a difference having the whole weekend so you can set up and enjoy the amazing venue before the day.
We can’t express how amazing the team were at Owlpen, so incredibly friendly, professional and relaxed. A special mention to Bella and Theo, who coordinated the wedding; they were both fantastic. They really put us at ease and made sure the day ran smoothly.
We can’t recommend Owlpen enough; it is a beautiful venue with the best atmosphere and wonderful people.
Absolutely magical.
I honestly don’t know where to start with writing a review for Owlpen; I feel emotional even trying. From start to finish, the team at Owlpen were the most well-organised and professional team you could hope to work with whilst somehow managing also to be the most friendly, kind, good-humoured and accommodating people you could meet.
There is a real family feel when working with the team, and they have gone above and beyond, whether it be allowing countless visits, responding quickly and informatively to my barrage of emails for the last 1.5 years, or looking after us so well on the wedding day. So many of our guests commented on how well-organised the day was, and that was down to the well-oiled machine that is the Owlpen staff!
The place is a piece of magic that it takes seeing in person to appreciate. Set in a Cotswold valley, there is a real sense of intimate privacy whilst also projecting a vast feeling that comes from having the full run of the place; there isn’t anything like looking down on the beautiful gardens filled with your friends and family bustling around in their finery, that is an image that will stay with me forever. Having a portion of our guests stay the night before and the night of was incredibly unique, and again, the team went well out of their way to accommodate every last detail. I could never have dreamed that we could have our friends swimming in a lake with a picnic on the bank the day before our wedding and have a house dedicated to after-party fun around a firepit.
I’ll never be able to thank Owlpen enough for giving us the best day of our lives.
We attended a family wedding and stayed in one of the cottages for the weekend. The staff were the most attentive I have ever experienced at a function. They engaged in conversation, went out of their way to fulfil special requests from guests and were just generally happy and accommodating. The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed and was close enough to make it convenient for popping back and forth to the venue. We all had an amazing weekend; thank you, Owlpen.
My wife and I got married at Owlpen last year, and the minute we arrived, Hugo, Luke and Bella made us feel incredibly welcome and immediately took the stress away, which meant we really could enjoy the quiet time before everyone arrived and our night before the wedding with family and friends.
On the day, Hugo and Luke went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly and everything was taken care of so that we didn’t really have to think about logistics at all. Importantly, though, the Owlpen Team were all so warm, caring, and professional but, at the same time, made us laugh throughout the day and made the day so fun. It really felt like we were in the capable hands of good friends. The wider team, such as the cleaning team, did a wonderful job ensuring it was all immaculate, and the bar/catering staff were excellent as well. All of our friends had a wonderful time and commented on how lovely the staff and venue were and how comfortable and looked after they felt.
The venue and surroundings are breathtaking, and the whole place feels so private and special. I loved sitting with a cuppa the night before by myself in the bridal suite, listening to the Owls outside; it was magical! We had a perfect weekend; thanks all!
How to start married life well.
We have just returned from the perfect midweek wedding of our son and daughter-in-law. We knew even before the day that we were dealing with a highly professional team who knew what they were doing but, at the same time, took the time to listen and accommodate the wants and desires of the happy couple.
Planning a wedding during lockdown has not been easy, but Bella and her team supported us throughout.
On the day, the Owlpen manor team ensured that our bride and groom had the most perfect of days and began married life without any stress.
Set in the beautiful Cotswold hills, the facilities for the wedding were beautiful. The staff on hand were obliging and unobtrusive, ensuring guests had their drinks topped up and everyone knew where they needed to be and when. The food was great, and everyone had a fantastic time.
We were lucky enough to stay on-site in the wonderful Grist Mill. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay, even if you’re not planning a wedding; the accommodations laid out over three floors include a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable lounge.
A huge thank you to Bella and the Owlpen team, who made our stay relaxing and helped the happy couple start married life together without stress or worry.
Best day EVER!!!
Look, I’m not very eloquent, but hear me out. I’ll take you back to 2020, newly engaged and excited. I had always wanted a really low-key wedding; however, my (now) husband was keen on something a bit bigger. I looked around, and nothing was hitting the spot. My mum (obviously – she’s a babe) sent me the link to Owlpen. We arranged to have a little look around and instantly fell in love with the venue and Bella.
Organising things during lockdowns and all that stuff they were amazing. Fast forward to September 2021. My partner, my kids, family, and friends are all having a BBQ the night before the wedding, chilling and sorting everything out for the next day on site.
The cottages were really cute and well-equipped, which made it feel like a real little holiday!
The Wedding Day… let me tell you, with Tonya, Bella and Theo there, I did not need to worry about a thing! It all went so smoothly, and they had our back the whole time! All of our guests had the same thing to say to us: “I’ve never been to a more relaxed wedding; it’s so chill.” This is down to the venue and staff, in my opinion.
It all just felt amazing and relaxed; ‘well-seasoned catering’ was also incredible. The food was amazing, and the staff were next-level great!
It’s a week later, and I want to go back already!
We wanted a relaxed and casual wedding where everyone could get together after being apart for so long, and Owlpen’s layout allowed that. We got married in the Manor House (intimate), had drinks and sweet grazing in the garden (beautiful and private) and then went to the barns for the evening. The disco and bar were in the Cider Barn, and the t for 130 people in the Pole Barn. This was ideal as those who wanted to catch up with friends and family didn’t have to compete with the dancing. The fire pits and festoon lights made the most of the excellent weather.
We’d recommend Owlpen in a heartbeat, mostly due to the staff being so attentive without being intrusive and getting emotionally invested in our day.
All in all, the experience that we had at Owlpen Manor was absolutely amazing. Thank you again to the incredible team there. Would 100% do it again!
We got married at the gorgeous Owlpen Manor in October, and it was just heaven.
The team are friendly and so caring; in the lead-up and on our wedding day itself, they made you feel like part of a family and that your wedding day mattered. It is the most beautiful, hidden-away area of the Cotswolds (which means it’s remote and a little challenging to get there), and for us, it was the perfect place to get married. If you’re looking for a stunning venue, secluded in the gorgeous countryside, with great gardens for pictures and picturesque cottages for your guests to stay in, a friendly and professional team who make you feel like a priority and that nothing is too much trouble, then Owlpen is the place for you.
Words can’t describe how perfect our wedding day was, and that was due to superstars like Bella, who coordinated our day, and to the whole team for being the warm, fun bunch they are.
It’s a stunning venue with brilliant people.

We believe a wedding should last more than just a day, so we offer you the estate for three days in total. Usually, we hold weddings on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but whatever day of the week, the timeline works like this:
Day 1: Kick-off. Arrive from noon (or earlier if needed) and begin decorating. Have a rehearsal. Guests start arriving after lunch and checking into their accommodation. We like to have a planning meeting at 2pm to ensure everyone is happy with the arrangements. If you would like to hold an informal meal in the Cyder Barn that evening, we can arrange this for you. Alternatively, you can throw a barbecue for your closest friends and family in a holiday cottage. Some of them have large and beautiful gardens, which make them perfect for this. If you would instead like to make things easier, head to the pub in Uley, just half a mile away, or enjoy a quiet night in before the big day.
Day 2: The BIG Day! We follow your lead on this, so let us know how you would like to schedule things, and we'll offer advice where we think it might be helpful and do everything we can to make your dreams a reality.
Day 3: The Aftermath... Guests begin to check out of the holiday cottages at 10am, and where possible, we try to arrange late check-out for those who would rather stay on a while longer.
The cottages are all available to rent on that night if you'd rather delay your return to reality just a bit more. If not, you are welcome to stay on the estate until 5pm, perhaps to have a relaxed brunch in a garden or at the venue, take a dip in our spring-fed swimming lake, or hang out and relive the moments of the day. Let us know what you'd like to do, and we shall try to make it work!
We are totally out of the way and secluded: the valley is not on the way anywhere, so you don't get people passing through, and the country lane is only used by us. It feels like you have come to the ends of the earth, but the village of Uley is just half a mile away. It has a great pub, vibrant cafe, and convenience store for last-minute goodies.
- The M4 is only ten miles away.
- Stroud railway station is just a 15-minute drive away, with direct trains to London in 90 minutes.
- Cam and Dursley stations are the same distance, with accessible trains to Bristol and Birmingham.
We can conduct official ceremonies outdoors, in certain areas of the gardens. The final decision on this rests with the registrar on the day: usually, it is dictated by weather. We recommend hiring chairs for outdoor ceremonies: more below.
We also regularly hold unofficial ceremonies in several locations, either in the gardens or a woodland glade near the Cyder Barn. These can be a blessing, performed by an official celebrant, or even an informal exchange of vows conducted by a friend or family member.
We include the following in our venue hire fees:
- Access to the gardens and grounds
- Use of the barns at no additional charge
- Event coordination
- Cutlery and crockery; wine glasses; choice of round or long tables
- Festoon lights and bunting outside
- Parking
- Use of the fire pits, including logs
- Unlimited camping
A few reasonable exclusions exist when outside caterers are used: please speak to a team member for details.
Yes! You can use the venue on Thursday or Sunday if you are having a meal provided by our caterers, or we can staff it if you want a more relaxed send-off for your guests.
If you would like to give your guests breakfast in a holiday cottage, that is fine, or we can help you arrange a food van to come and help with sore heads. Just let us know what you prefer, and we'll do our best to advise.
