Osmaston Park is located on the 3,000-acre Osmaston Estate near Ashbourne, Derbyshire. The marquee occupies the site of a former manor house surrounded by original 19th-century terraces and gardens. The current owners have restored the location, which offers sweeping views of lakes, rolling hills, dense forests, and expansive skies. Panoramic clear panels in the marquee ensure the breathtaking surroundings remain a central feature throughout the day, creating a stunning backdrop for every moment.
Ceremonies can be held indoors or outdoors, with options for intimate gatherings or larger celebrations. While the venue is not currently licensed for legal weddings, it accommodates blessings or celebrant-led ceremonies following a legal marriage elsewhere. Church weddings followed by a reception at Osmaston Park are also popular. Outdoor ceremonies require additional chair hire, as indoor furniture cannot be used outside.
Before reaching the venue, guests arrive via tree-lined roads, passing thatched cottages and a shimmering lake. A friendly security team directs parking while guests make their way to the entrance, where welcome drinks and canapés can be enjoyed on the lawn, terrace, patio, or inside the marquee. Live music can accompany arrivals, with flexibility for indoor or outdoor setups.
The marquee features neutral linings, chandeliers, and a star-cloth canopy for an elegant atmosphere. Panoramic views and a built-in dancefloor create an unforgettable setting for your celebration. The space accommodates up to 500 guests, with options to divide it for smaller gatherings. Exclusive use of the site ensures privacy, and high-quality facilities, including toilets and a catering area, are provided. Guests can explore the grounds, take photos, or enjoy games and entertainment.
Though there is no on-site accommodation, Osmaston Park is within a short drive of numerous excellent options. A list of recommendations is available upon request.
A selection of approved caterers offers a range of menus to suit all tastes, budgets, and dietary needs. External caterers may be permitted for an additional fee. Evening food vendors, such as pizza or doughnut stations, are welcome.
The bar is staffed by a professional team and can be fully stocked for traditional service. Alternatively, you may bring your own drinks, and there is no corkage fee, though there is a charge for bar facilities and staff.
Revenue from weddings supports forest and woodland management on the estate, ensuring its longevity for both wildlife and visitors. Sustainability measures include banning single-use plastics, promoting car sharing, and reusing wedding supplies. Plans are underway to connect the site to mains electricity, reducing reliance on generators.
The village of Osmaston is home to a traditional pub, a charming Church, thatched cottages, and a duck pond. Nearby, Ashbourne offers eateries, accommodations, and shops. Surrounding villages feature historic sites, scenic walks, and welcoming pubs, with Derbyshire landmarks nearby for exploration.
Osmaston Park is easily accessible from the M1 and M6 motorways, with nearby A roads providing convenient access.
We most certainly do not! One of the key aspects of our dry-hire venue is having the option to save costs where you can, and for this reason, you are permitted to provide your own corkage-free drinks. There are several levels of professional bar service to choose from and a friendly, experienced team of staff to serve your drinks on the day, whether provided by you or by us.
We have a duty to maintain responsible alcohol consumption at the venue, and therefore, guests are not permitted to bring their own additional drinks.
For everything other than the catering and bar services, you are free to bring in any suppliers you desire or to do your own DIY wedding should you choose to. We have a list of excellent recommended suppliers who have worked with us previously, but the final choice is yours.
On the day of your booking, you will be permitted access from 9am to Midnight, the latest time your event can end. The timings of your event between these hours are up to you!
We have a large, free parking area for up to 130 cars on site. Small areas of overspill parking may be available if required, and we have coach access and parking too.
We don't get involved in planning or coordinating your wedding. Still, we are here to support and guide you with any questions throughout the planning process and signpost you to any suppliers you may be interested in. We have some excellent wedding coordinators in the local area and will happily recommend them should you desire some extra support on the day.
At Osmaston HQ, we are all avid dog lovers and know that dogs are an important part of the family. Couples are permitted to bring their own dog with them during the quiet part of the reception, provided they have a designated person to be responsible for their control and well-being and to pick up any presents they may leave outside!
Once the drinking and dancing begin, dogs must be safely cared for off-site. We have some excellent doggy chaperones in the area who can provide this service.
We are exploring becoming approved for legal marriages, but for now, we are a venue perfect for wedding receptions following a Church or registry office wedding.
We do have ample space both inside and outside for non-legal ceremonies, should you wish to make the most of our amazing setting for another celebration of your commitment to each other, having done the legal bit elsewhere.
