Set across five acres in the Kent countryside, Oak Tree Barn centres around a striking ancient oak. Open fields stretch outwards, with wide views and pockets of woodland that invite guests to wander between moments. By day, the light feels open and generous; by evening, festoon lighting, lanterns and fire pits bring a softer glow, drawing everyone back together.
The layout encourages movement without ever feeling complicated. From the barn to the woodland bar and open lawns, each area flows naturally into the next. There’s a sense of privacy here, too. With exclusive use, the entire site becomes yours for the day, allowing everything to happen at its own pace, without interruption.
Oak Tree Barn offers exclusive use across a range of wedding formats, including weekend, midweek, twilight and ceremony-only celebrations, operating from April through to December. Packages are structured to cover the key elements of the day, while still allowing space for personal choices around suppliers, styling and flow. The team remains on hand throughout planning, offering guidance while keeping the focus on your decisions and priorities.
Oak Tree Barn is licensed for both indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies, with three distinct spaces to choose from depending on the season and style of your day. The outdoor “Love Shack” sits within a leafy setting, framed by wooden doors, reclaimed stained glass and simple hay bale seating. It’s informal, characterful, and closely connected to the landscape.
For cooler months or a changeable forecast, the Rustic Barn offers a sheltered indoor option with a warm, textural feel, while a stretch tent set within the field provides a covered outdoor alternative. Each space supports a different atmosphere, from relaxed and open-air to more contained and intimate. Couples can opt for a legal ceremony on site or a celebrant-led blessing, with the flexibility to shape the moment in a way that feels personal.
After the ceremony, guests drift towards the woodland for drinks at the Silo Bar and The Nags Head, a converted horse box with outdoor seating. This part of the day feels easy and sociable, with space for canapés, garden games and conversation.
Dinner is held in the Rustic Barn, where up to 150 guests can gather beneath soft lighting for a meal styled entirely to your preferences. As the evening builds, the barn shifts again, welcoming up to 150 guests for dancing and late-night celebration. The Tipsy Gypsy bar anchors the space, while the Wonky Donkey cocktail and whiskey bar adds a more playful edge as the night unfolds. Music, whether a live band or a DJ, carries through until midnight, with the atmosphere gathering momentum rather than rushing to a close.
On-site accommodation includes The Bothy, a detached cottage sleeping up to eight guests. Inside, original features such as exposed beams and brick flooring sit alongside more contemporary finishes, creating a space that feels both grounded and comfortable. With three bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a private enclosed garden, it offers a quiet retreat before and after the celebrations.
For additional guests, five wooden lodges sit at the top of the field, each designed for two people. These provide a simple glamping experience, with double beds, solar lighting and access to shared shower facilities. A nearby Premier Inn, just a short walk away, offers further convenience for those preferring a more traditional stay.
Food at Oak Tree Barn is intentionally flexible, allowing you to choose catering that reflects your tastes and the tone of your day. From formal three-course dinners to barbecues, hog roasts or street food, the approach is open, supported by a list of recommended suppliers alongside the option to bring in your own.
Evening food is equally considered, with wood-fired pizzas served from the Apple Shed Pizza Hut over a two-hour window, including vegan and gluten-free options. Across the site, multiple bars create different points of interest. From pre-ceremony drinks at The Nags Head to cocktails and whiskey at the Wonky Donkey, each space brings its own character. Optional drinks packages are available, with a focus on variety and ease of service.
Sustainability at Oak Tree Barn is rooted in the way the venue has been built and maintained. Reclaimed and repurposed materials feature throughout, from scaffold board flooring and corrugated cladding to stained glass windows and converted horse boxes. Practical measures are in place as well, including food and waste recycling and the use of natural petals or biodegradable confetti.
Located just outside Tonbridge, the venue sits within easy reach of a lively market town and wider Kent countryside. A network of public footpaths links the site to Tonbridge itself, where independent shops, cafés and restaurants line the High Street. The town’s medieval castle and riverside park offer a relaxed way to spend time over a wedding weekend.
A short drive brings you to Royal Tunbridge Wells for further shopping and dining, while nearby All Saints’ Church in Tudeley is known for its stained glass by Marc Chagall. The surrounding area is rich with National Trust properties, including Sissinghurst, Penshurst Place, Hever Castle and Chartwell, each offering a different glimpse into the region’s landscape and history.
You're welcome to choose your own caterer, and we also have a list of recommended suppliers if that's helpful. If your chosen caterer isn't on our list, we simply ask that you share their name and contact details with us in advance so we can review and approve them before you confirm your booking. Once your caterer has been booked, a catering contract will need to be signed by both parties and returned to us at least eight months prior to your wedding date.
You don't have to choose one of our drink packages; we are happy to look at something more bespoke. Alternatively, some couples choose a bar tab, drink tokens, or a paying bar.
We have a corkage contract and a per-bottle corkage fee for a limited number of bottles. We would need you to discuss this with us and sign the corkage contract.
